“I agree. Do Not Stay Here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2009

Don't know which [Resort ?] the top 6 reviewers stayed at, but it certainly wasn't where we were, at Sunrise Ridge Waterfront Resort in Parksville, B.C. Canada.
We booked for 2 nights, Easter weekend.
From their own website on April 01, 2009 when we booked, they stated :

Amenities
Sunrise Ridge Waterfront Resort offers guests and owners luxurious resort living with hotel style amenities including:

5 swimming, relaxation and hot pools . [They have none]
Children's play center . [Never saw any]
Fitness facilities . [Nope]
Lounge area . [Nope]
Meeting rooms . [Any 2bit hotel could state this]
On site restaurant . [Do not have]

To their credit, since our 1 night stay , they have changed the wording on their website to reflect the fact that they have no amenities.
We checked out the next morning and move next door where they had what they advertised!
When we arrived home I contacted Expedia, who we booked thru, and they contacted Sunrise Ridge to check m our horror story, and agreed to a full reimbursement of our 2day booking.
Thankyou Expedia.
I am writing this review, not to be spiteful, but to warn other unsuspecting travellers. Hope this helps someone.

We were amazed by the space, quality, provided cutlery, cookware and plates and cups etc. We could see the water but it was a bit too cool in February to use the balcony and BBQ.

The location is excellent with water access and we enjoyed a walk round the property in the morning. The welcome in the lobby was very good and we met some of the other guests who all seemed pleased with the surroundings. Exceptional value for money.

The accommodations are spectacular, very modern and all the little things were included such as specialty teas, all cooking utensils we needed were provided to whip up a big seafood dinner and deep tubs to soak away the stress. We booked a three bedroom and we each had our own bathroom and comfortable beds.

The grounds were still a bit bare, no landscaping has been planted but they have big plans and I look forward to seeing the final product. The trail down to the beach is wide and not too steep.

Had a great time.

Spent a weekend in Parksville attending a Christmas Party. Have stayed in Parksville a fair bit, so decided to try the latest (and possibly greatest!) place.

First off, the accommodations are fabulous. Very new, very luxurious. And the units have EVERYTHING. Fully stocked kitchens, stainless steel appliances, granite counters, BBQs, big LCD TVs, DVD players (with movies available at the front-desk), beautiful furniture, private balconies, comfortable beds, heated floors, gorgeous modern washrooms, fireplaces, the list just keeps going. Staff is excellent as well. All in all, I was blown away with the quality. Parksville is a beautiful town, and Sunrise Ridge has direct beach access as well.

I understand there is still a restaurant and pool being developed, but until then Tigh-na-mara’s facilities are just a few steps away. I’ve paid over double for places that don’t even come close. Very satisfied customer, look forward to staying at Sunrise Ridge again!

We had our Region meeting there along with our Region executive meeting plus spent the night. We are now having all our Region meetings there because it is affordable, beautiful, fantastic rooms and service and we are simply spolied and do not wish ever to go anywhere else. the rooms are incredibel and spacious and have absolutly everything we need-including a barbeque if we so desire I fell in love with my bathtub which each bedroom has--and did I mention how wonderful the beds are--well, they are. Love it! Love it! Love it!! Can hardly wait for our next meeting at the end of January.

Will only be icing on the cake when the other parts are finished

  • Liked — everything--from my bed to my bathtub to our room and to our meeting room along with the staff service-fantastic
  • Disliked — whats not to like?

We had the best romantic weekend getaway at the Sunrise Ridge Waterfront Resort. The rooms are stunning and absolutely impeccable - you can tell that attention to detail is paramount. I also loved the jet tub in the bathroom! Every morning we got up and took a long walk on the beach which is just steps away. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating and directed us to some fabulous restaurants and activities during our weekend. I would definitely recommend this for any couple wanting a romantic getaway but also for families as there is so much to do in the surrounding area! We travel extensively and i can honestly say that this was one of my favourite resorts - I will definitely be back!

My family and I just spent the long weekend at the Sunrise Ridge Resort, and we had a great time!
It is true that this property is in its humble beginnings as a major hotel/resort destination, and does not have ammenities such as restaurant and pool, however we were told this during the reservation process, so there were no surprises. The neighbouring resort (a stones throw away) has a restaurant and spa facilities if need be.
The decor of the lodge is top notch, modern with a strong influence of West Coast with large wooden beams throughout the Porte Cocher and Lobby. There is also a full artist rendition of the upcoming pool...make that pools!...which look absolutely stunning. A model of the finished product in a side lounge area (which by the way is beautiful) is impressive and includes a restaurant...makes me want to come back to see the progress.
Our room was a two bedroom with a queen bed in each (extremely comfortable), a full kitchen with stainless steel appliances and a beautiful marble top table. The flat screen televisions were a nice touch as well as the gas barbecue located on our patio. My three year old daughter told us during our first night that she liked her new home..we had to break the news to her..she didn't take it too well.
Staff was extremely friendly and courteous, top marks there.
We will definitely be going back and we look forward to the additions upcoming.
