“#1 Kayaking B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2012

We stayed for one night at the B&B enroute to the Broken Islands for a six day kayaking trip. Our group of six was well taken care of by Al and Rose, from our first greeting at the door to our delivery to the Frances Barkley the next day and our pick-up from the boat a week later. Beds were comfortable, company and local info good, breakfast excellent and the ability to leave our vehicles at the B&B with free van delivery back and forth to the boat a great convenience. Can't say enough good things. Will definitely make it our B&B the next time we go to the Broken Group.

Room Tip: We were on the top floor with a shared bathroom. Was quiet and comfortable.

The hosts Al and Rose go above and beyond to prepare you for everything that Port Alberni has to offer. We were there for the local Salmon Festival and Al and Rose told us how to get the most of it in the short time we had. The home was very welcoming, clean spacious rooms, excellent location and great breakfast. The transportation service from the B and B to port to catch the Francis Barkley included car storage and a car wash and wax. The best service anyone could ever ask for. Thanks again Rose and Al!

Rose and Al made us feel right at home in Port Alberni at the front and back end of our sea-kayaking trip through the Broken Group Islands. Al dropped us off at the dock and picked us up when our trip was over. We had a huge, comfortable room with private bath. Breakfasts were cooked to order. They allowed us to park our car with them for the week. We had driven from Calgary. The vehicle was a bit of a mess. Al washed it for us. What great hospitality all around!

We stayed in The Roses for 2 nights. It was the begining of our 40 days' trip in Canada and it was our first experience with B&B. we had a nice surprise: good hospitality, wonderful service and very nice breakfast.
Rosalie & Al were wonderful and efficient.
We had a spacious basement room with nice private bathroom.
The location suited us perfectly cause we sailed with the Lady Rose to Bamfield and it was great to return to The Roses.

We moved here as our previous B & B cancelled for family reasons. Rose and her husband made us so welcome. We had a large room in the basement, our own bathroom/shower, and the house is in a quiet peaceful place,So great sleep and comfortable bed. It is on the outskirts of town, but yet not far to walk or drive to eat. There is a hot tub for clients use if they so wish, and this was fantastic, after a long day in the car, and walking.
Breakfast was good.. sitting chatting in the conservatory for ages. They are very knowledgeable and helped us get to know about the area. I wish we could have stayed longer!

We stayed just one night in this cosy B&B but if felt as we'd stayed for much longer. Rose and Al welcome you so dearly and hearty that you consider them as friends very quickly. You can sit with them over a cup of excellent coffee to share experiences or to get advised by them. The breakfast they serve is delicious and abundant and if you want you can enjoy the benefits of the hot tub after a long day outdoors. We stayed downstairs in the suite and we enjoyed the space and the quietness. All you need is there and Rose and Al will help you wherever they can! We liked the personal touch so much!
Don't be surprised to see a deer close to you when you are having dinner in the garden!
