“Best hotel option in Sidney”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

We booked a wheelchair accessible room here and found it worked very well for us. Bathroom was very spacious with wheel-in shower. I really liked the long luggage rack near the door. Great space to organize all your stuff. The restaurant here is fabulous and the service of hotel staff was excellent. Only complaint was the fridge that is not really a fridge (cannot cool things). This was a drag when I had some leftover food I wanted to save until the next day. The location of the hotel is excellent - great ocean views and in walking distance of all the shops in Sidney. Will definitely visit again.

Room Tip: Wheelchair accessible room is near elevator, has ocean view but view looks out over lobby roof, whic...

Only a casual overnight stay waiting to pick someone up at YYJ, we thought. The location itself makes any hotel better, of course (map it, throw in some sunny weather and you'll see why). But a good location doesn't make a hotel staff and rooms great. Staff friendliness – starting at the front desk at check-in, continuing with random staff in the hallways, including housekeeping folks and finally with the person who took and delivered our room service order (more on that in a moment) – was welcoming and a warm change from the casual "here's your key, the elevators are over there". Add the room upgrade (which hotels don't ever need to do) to their Signature Pier Suite ("because it's available"), and we instantly decided once we got into the room to order room service to enjoy the view. The menu is well-executed, tasty casual presented in an enjoyable way, and our food was delivered quickly by a friendly and pleasant person who chatted briefly and was on their way.

The suite itself was as nice as the website description. The bedroom was a bit tight with the great king bed but given the roominess of the suite itself, finding room for the second suitcase wasn't a big deal. The fully-adjustable sunshades did their job well on this east-facing room in the sun-filled morning we were there. The full kitchen was fully-equipped, had we wanted to cook, and is well-maintained. The furnishings are stylish and firm. The balcony gave us an instant option for fresh air and views in two directions (we were on a corner). The two bathrooms included a second shower, and were very nicely furnished.

We would definitely stay there again, even without an upgrade. It _is_ a great location, so convenient to restaurants, even a local grocery store and Sidney's main street stores. But the people were so friendly, and the furnishings still crisp, that we'll return as soon as the occasion presents itself.

Room Tip: East or south facing rooms will give you the best views.

We booked a room here about 4 days before and a couples massage. They called us the day before arrival and said they could not accomodate the couples massage but we could have separate massages. Room was to have a soaker tub, it did have a tub but was very small. No outside balcony on our oceanview room was a dissappointment. It was just a standard hotel room.

Stayed at the Sidney Pier Hotel last weekend and had booked 2 rooms. The morning of arrival, got a call that the hotel had overbooked and one room had been moved to another property close by. Luckily not an issue for my party and they were very generous in assisting with the relocation.

Room was decent size, good amenities and was overall clean. Shower had good pressure, blowdryer was not as pathetic as most hotel ones generally are and there were ample towels in the room. Shampoos and conditioners readily available and of decent quality. Only concern was shards of glass on the carpeted floor of the hotel room which cut my husband's foot and was cause to wonder how recently it had been vacuumed.

Rooms were quiet - didn't hear people in the halls or around us - and beds very comfortable. We did find there to be awkward locations for electrical outlets which meant plugging gadgets in behind tables and chairs, but this was maybe only awkward to me.

Property is located right near the water and some rooms have spectacular views of the ocean. If you don't have an ocean-view room, you are essentially opening up onto a shared deck patio area. We didn't spend time out there, but if you had wanted to it might have been not very private with your next door neighbors right next to you.

There is a great path you can walk right up along the ocean with and there are cute shops all around for browsing.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms have spectacular views!

We loved our stay at The Sidney Pier Hotel & Spa. We booked a Seaview room with king size beds. It was awesome. Beautiful views every day! The beds were comfortable and we didn't hear any of the occupants around us. The room was clean with modern decor. The Hotel staff were very helpful, polite and informative. We really enjoyed purchasing food from the Cafe in the hotel or the Supermarket across the road and Sidney bakery. All within a short walking distance. The walk down the promenade and broadwalks are very welcome.
We will recommend this Hotel to anyone else, who wants to stay there.

Room Tip: Book a corner room.

This hotel is beautifully positioned near the harbour in Sidney, and the sea views can only be described as breathtaking, The rooms are spacious and very comforatble, with good quality fixtures and fittings, The staff are friendly and welcoming, and they go the extra mile to ensure that customers are happy during their stay.
This area of the Saanich Peninsula is quite lovely, and very unspoilt. Sidney itself is a super little town with nice shops (many good bookshops!) and the locals are very friendly. A big advantage is the proximity of the ferry terminal at Schwartz Bay.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view room or suite and you will not be disappointed. We had a suite which allowed 3...

Our last stay at this hotel was not terrific but today it is. July 13, my birthday, the weather is perfect!! When the weather is nice here there is no more beautiful place in the world. Our home is located on the Strait of Jan de Fuca just across from Sidney but we enjoy visiting Sidney as it is a very special town. A very safe town that is loaded with personality and charm. The local people are very friendly and helpful. We first started coming to Sidney by boat then changed to walking on the ferry then on arriving to BC walking to different hotels. I think we now will only stay at Sidney Pier and hotel. Our last room was a suite and the room had a kitchen and balcony. We didn't love the room but it was ok. It looked SW over the street and had a marginal view of the water. Today, our room 316, has a great view of the water and right next to the park. In fact, we just spent the afternoon listening to a Sunday concert from our room. We had better seats than those sitting on the grass. Our room was even the cheapest of their rooms but we liked it better than the suites If you visit on Thursday they block the main streets and have an outdoor market. It is huge!! Back to the hotel, the last two rooms (suites) that we stayed in the beds were horrible , but our room today the beds are great! Go Figure? My only dislikes are (1). The halls are not airconditioned and it gets very hot in the summer, (2) the beds are not consistently good, (3) the lobby is frightfully small and any privacy is non-existent, (4) the food served in their restaurant is excellent in quality and their service was good but the menu selection was unbelievably limited. I don't think we have ever stayed at a hotel with such a limited menu. Try the Suisse Bistro, a superb, small European restaurant.
