“Horrible place to waste your money......dont ever go there ....pictures are deceiving”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

Just one word ....horrible and please please please stay away. We were 3 families and rented the 2 cottages for 3 nights and paid $2500.00 in total. The cottages were stinky, horrible, bathroom doors didnt work, not enough hot water..... and the most disgusting of all is the owner Brian who walks around naked and paddle boats naked too in front of small kids. No housekeeping facilities, no on call, the phones dont work in the cottages....JUST HORRIBLE. Worst experience ever :((

My family and I stayed from aug 7-12 2013, I had a feeling that the place was not the best but decided to stay aways. the road to the campsites was terrible. overall impression on the place was it was a dive but if the owner actually had pride over this place it could have been so much better. I had a waterfront site which was really nice. the sand on the beach was the nicest i have ever seen in canada. the people beside my site took advantage of the clothing optional at certain times of the day(but overall they where very respectful of my children being there and covered up when they where around) which was more entertaining than anything. yes the outhouse area was bad but i would say i have seen worse.the waterfalls where beautiful . the place could be a gold mine if the ower would just clean up the junk. Even though the place was a dump the camp site was nice and we all had a good time. this is not a place for complainers but if you do decide to stay here go in with a open mind and enjoy your surroundings ...in the end its you that can make or break your camping experience

The website for High Falls is very deceiving. This property is nothing like what you will see on the website. Grass has never been cut. Old vehicles, furniture, garbage in the tall grass behind our campsite. Before arriving we enquired by phone about the "clothing optional" term on the website. We were told anyone who chose to go clothing optional would stay on the "south beach". However, when we got there, the "south beach" was our campsite. Not impressed! We decided to stay as the owner had already charged the credit card for our full stay. $80 a night with no septic hookup for our trailers. Half the electrical receptacles did not work. No flush toilets and an outdoor shower. The "water park" was not what we expected. It was a beach littered with old, dirty toys. And the owner wanted $27 pp a day to use these "toys"! The next day the owner and his friends decided to exercise their "clothing optional" rights and spent the day naked next to our campsite. Later in the afternoon, two naked people kayaked by our campsite where several children were playing. When we decided to leave a day earlier than planned, we were told it would cost us $25 to dump our black and grey water tanks on our trailer. We left angry and completely disgusted by the owner. If you decide to stay here, please do not pre-pay or give the owner a deposit without seeing this property first hand.

Garbage everywhere! The beach which is eroding terribly, was littered with old, worn out equipment. Naked people paddling by. We had several kids camping with us. No septic service for trailers. No facilities to speak of. And it was $80/night!! Please stay away.

We booked this place for a weekend with our daughter. When we arrived in the early evening on the Friday, the place was empty. First red flag! The middle of July and no one around? This place should have been packed with people. Anyway, we went into the office and again no one. We called two telephone numbers that were left to get some service and no answer at either number. After about 15 minutes a lady drove up and we asked her where the owner was and she said she only comes for the weekends. She made a call and some fifteen minutes later the owner finally arrived. No apology was given or concern that no one was there to greet one of their customers...interesting. We asked to see the room we had reserved and well all I can say is if you have no issues with dirty accommodations, then this place is for you. Looks like no work has been done to this place since the 70's. We saw one other young family while we were there and their response to the place was were staying only because they have our money! We left shortly after we arrived feeling like we were escaping a time warp and escaping Hotel California! This place is truly a dump and I cannot believe that companies like booking.com allow this bird to advertise through their web site. Do yourself a huge favour and stay away from High Falls Cottage Resort!!

Room Tip: There are no good rooms at this place to rent!

I have gone camping many many times and this place was horrendous. The website stated that there were washrooms and toilets. There are no flush toilets, only portable washrooms and some kind of shower that I would refuse to use. Also the website does not state anything regarding nudism. Well guess what? The owner himself is the nudist (pervert). Running around butt naked in front of the children specially little girls. I would be ashamed of myself. I paid $50 per night per site to see this. I thought it was a family resort. Water Park. I couldn't use any of the water toys( which were from 1900's) unless I paid another $27 per person. So not only he is a pervert his a thieve. I would not recommend anyone with small children to go to this place. It is disguising.

Our family (2 boys 5 and 2) spent a July weekend here with an RV and had an amazing time. We took a waterside location and had a personal sand beach all to ourselves. The main beach was amazing fun for the kids and the waterfalls are spectacular, especially how close you can get to them with a paddle boat and still be in smooth waters.

Yes, the owners have a naturist attitude, which simply means although this is a clothing optional beach, the owners were two of the most humble, sincere and caring individuals we have ever been tended by. They even came down and spent some time with us having a great chat with my wife and I after the kids were in bed and we enjoyed a night fire.

Every guest we met were completely down to earth, loved talking and laughing with our children and hospitality was nothing less then perfect.

Would our family go back? In a HEARTBEAT!

Room Tip: Since we went in an RV, we had our own amenities, but the cottages looked clean and nice from the ou...
