“Great Staycation!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012

We have stayed in the Weider Lodge suites - in the Village at the Blue - several times over the last few summer seasons and we are always pleased! Great place for a couple to relax and rejuvinate. We love going to the Scandinave Spa when we stay at The Blue as it's a close drive and adds to the relaxing atmosephere. The suites are always clean and we appreciate that the organization is eco friendly with it's towel service etc. Whenever we have called guest services we were always served by a friendly staff person who always met our needs. There is access to a private beach, which also offers canoe/kayak/paddle boat rentals. What we are most pleased about is what "The Blue" offers is what a guest always gets; from quality furniture, clean rooms, a full kitchen, friendly staff and all the amenities you need (on premisis or really close by). It's a home away from for us that we will continue to visit. Infact we are considering purchasing a suite one day; no need to do any cottage maitenance and everything at our fingertips. The only downer is that we cannot take our bicyles up to our rooms. Though we are able to lock our bikes in the locker room (next to underground parking) we did not feel comfortable locking our expensive bicyles in the basement where many other guest have access. We would highly recommend staying at The Blue...

Room Tip: We like staying in the Weider Lodge because it's quiet and its pool/hot tub are nesled in betwee...

Dear Happy442,

This is great, thank you so much, you haven’t missed a thing, “home away from home”, definitely fits the bill and without all the maintenance of a cottage, just settle in and enjoy. We are thrilled that you enjoyed this property so much and all the amenities that go with it. We are glad you enjoyed the beach and its offerings as well.

We understand your worry over your bicycles; today we can invest quite a handsome sum in these items and want to protect them. Our locked storage facilities are quite safe, every guest card accessing the room leaves a handprint identifying them; nobody else can enter the room. In the interest of protecting our homeowner’s investments in the lodging suites we discourage taking equipment of this nature through hallways and into rooms. We hope you understand the rationale behind this process.

Hope to see you again soon!

Best Regards,

My boyfriend and I recently spent a couple of nights at this resort, and again had a good time, although it could have been better.

The Good: We love the Village atmosphere, the pool was clean (although too cold to go into), staff were friendly, the room was clean and spacious with a kitchen (it was a one-bedroom).

The Bad: The Hot Tub was out of order, and we didn't know this until going down to use it. A sign was posted that we could use another buildings Hot Tub, so we had to walk through the underground in our bathing suits. (We think Guests should be notified when checking in if a facility is out of order as a courtesy). The pool was cold :(

We had a nice balcony, however there was bird poop all over that we had to sweep up. (We did see staff cleaning balconies during our stay so we were disappointed that ours hadn't been cleaned before we arrived).

The Village activities are great, with the new Ridge Runner coaster & Mini Golf ($10 each for Resort Guests).

Room Tip: If you want peace and quiet, ask for a room facing away from the pool and village. If you don't...

Dear TorontoTravelgirl77,

Thank you for your feedback on a recent visit to Blue Mountain Resorts Limited, we are glad to hear you had a good time while staying with us.

We are sorry you found the pool temperature to be lower than desired for your comfort, we keep the pools at 80 degrees Fahrenheit, however every night we dump a portion of water and refill with fresh water, therefore the new water requires some time to be heated, perhaps this is why you found the pool to be cool, that coupled with the extreme heat we have experienced this year, might make the first impression in the water seem cool until the body temperature comes down.

We did experience an unexpected mechanical failure with the hot tub and yes, a sign should have been posted immediately, we will be sure to take this up with our front line staff for a more timely reaction in future.

Yes, the birds are an ongoing issue, it would be unlawful to harm them, but we do have traps set out to capture and relocate them. We do practice balcony cleaning and are aware of the bird droppings, again, thank you for this observation. We will ensure the cleaners step up their existing maintenance schedule to keep abreast of this matter.

Our expanded attractions are definitely a hit with both day visitors and our overnight guests.

Yours truly,
On behalf of Blue Mountain Resorts Limited

The 2 bedroom/2 bath suite was very spacious and we had a wonderful view of the mountain and the village. We used a complimentary one night room voucher and when we made reservation for this weekend they selected to put us in the Weider Lodge. We were very apprehensive since ouraccommodations on our last visit to Blue Mountain in the summer of 2011 were very disappointing. We were very pleased with Weider Lodge, the room offered modern decor, wonderfully comfortable beds, full kitchen (which we utilized for breakfast) and a cozy living room with fireplace. This will be our accommodation of choice for future visits to Blue Mountain.

Room Tip: Be specific when making reservation on exact location your accomodations will be in the village and...

The village was fun and had a great live band with.. awesome entertainment for kids to do and play in the water area..The restaurants were a little pricey but everything is soo close to here if you need to get groceries..etc.... We stayed in a one bedroom fully equipped suite. It was clean and the resort itself has really great restaurants. The staff were helpful and although we had to be evacuated due to a fire alarm - we were directed to another building to wait until the all clear. The only problem I had was a noise from the bathroom which I believe was the wind coming down the exhaust fan vent. It kept me from having a good night's sleep on the first night we stayed.

Room Tip: We had a room above the hot tub so kept our windows closed as there was a dance competition that wee...

We stayed here from March 14th to 17th with my 9 yr. old niece and nephew who are beginner skiiers. They loved the half-day ski lessons, very organized and good instructors ~ the snow not great but it felt more like summer than winter which they also enjoyed. There is a tractor-drawn wagon called "Red Devil People Mover" that runs back and forth between Weider Lodge and the South Hill where they had their lessons. There is also a "resort shuttle bus" that we never used. Check-in was very friendly and efficient ~ recommend to park in the underground parking as it is right underneath the lodge and you can take your luggage up in the elevator ~ we were on the 4th floor ($10. a day), unless you are lucky enough to get it for free.

We had a bachelor suite, which was lovely, a full kitchen plus dishwasher, queen bed, pull-out sofa and a good sized balcony overlooking the village. Housekeeping consists of replenishing supplies and making the beds up, bed linens are changed after every 3 nights. There was lots of activity and noisy at night, but also exciting to watch the people and the activities being set up. One day there was a show put on by the "Earth Rangers", also a bonfire set up in the middle. You could smell it from our room, but i love the smell of a bonfire, so no problem. We had to have our balcony door open all the time as it was so warm. We brought our own food so had breakfast and snacks in the room. We also enjoyed the outdoor hot tub ~ there's a small exercise room with a few pieces of equipment, where you can pick up towels for after your soak ~ also a sauna. (Wifi is $10. for a 24-hr. period.)

The restaurants were very good. We only chose the reasonably priced ones. First night we ate at "Wild Wings", the 2nd afternoon, lunch at the "Firehall Pizza" (excellent pizzas), dinner at the "Copper Bar and Grill" (excellent food and service) and the 3rd day, dinner at Thorlos (excellent food and service but a little noisy with the Greek musician).

The charming village is a lovely place to walk around, shop and enjoy the beautiful scenery ~ people were sunbathing in the chairs at the bottom of the hills and around the bonfire, wearing t-shirts or light jackets in March. We will definitely return, probably on the family day w/e in February 2013, when hopefully there will be snow. Great for families with young children ~ there were also a lot of teens there.

This past weekend we stayed 2 nights at the Weider Lodge with two other couples (no kids with us ). We had a fantastic time. Even though it was March break we were able to get into our room a few hours early. When you book your reservation you will be assigned into any of the 3 hotels (Weider Lodge, Grand Georgian and Seasons at Blue). The girl at the check in did a great job but putting us over in the Weider Lodge. It seemed that this lodge did not have as many kids here. Our 3 bedroom suite was very comfortable and clean. Also lucky that our room faced the mountain so we could watch the skiers and enjoy sitting on the balcony with the sun shining down. We also made use of the hot tub and at one time there was up to 8 people in it….and then only us; it felt like it was our own private tub…very nice.
The village is very cute. Because of it being March break there was a bird show (three times a day) plus a horse drawn cart ride. A few other actives had to be cancelled because of the warm weather (e.g. ice skating rink). We also rode the coaster ride, what a blast! You really should try to do it at least once.
I loved the one coffee shop that had Adirondack chairs out front with pillows and blankets available to help keep the chill off. Very nice touch.
Over all I loved Blue Mountain. I found that the staff was wonderful. We will come back, just too bad that for us it is a longer drive.
