“A true 4 Season Upscale Resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2014

This resort is now considerably upscale with the opening of its new addition. Warm and welcoming reception area with wall waterfall and gorgeous lobby lounge complete with fireplace. Nearby is a Tapis Bar with interesting menu. Down the hall on the main level is the exercise room with large variety of quality equipment. Beyond that is the bright, partially lit by a wall of natural light that can be opened to the outdoors in warm weather, an indoor salt water swimming pool with its unique shape and complete with waterside. Two jacuzzi-style hot tubs, one indoor and the other outdoor complete this inviting aquatic area. Life jackets for little people are supplied. The change rooms are equipped with a sauna.
Rooms themselves overlook the marina with beautiful Georgian Bay beyond. An outdoor barbecue area and play equipment area for children complete the facilities. As for the accommodations themselves, the living/dining area is spacious with quality furnishings. The bedroom is large and comfortable. One bedroom units have a full kitchen and adjoining lock-out studio units have a mini kitchen.
Collingwood is a 4 season resort town with plenty to do and see in the area including golf (across the road), skiing, in season, at nearby Blue Mountain, walking and cycling trails almost adjacent as well as a variety of eating establishments, retail box and grocery stores and a multi screen theatre complex all within walking distance. In short, a fun and inviting place to call home!

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a waterfront view as they overlook the water and have balconies.

My review is somewhat mixed. This resort is owned by the same people that own Cranberry resort across the street. We have family in town and we have stayed across the street before as well as other hotels in the area. We had a bad situation during the last stay that was taken care of at the Cranberry resort and taken care of well. I only mention this because we had some pretty big problems and to have some pretty big problems, although not as severe, a second time makes me think there's a pattern here. Both times the problems were taken care of.

At check-in there was only one person working so we had to wait. Once we got up there check-in seemed straight forward, although I should have seen the warning sign when a "time share presentation" was mentioned. Since we booked on Expedia, that seemed strange. But I blew it off thinking that there was a fat chance we would stick around for a presentation our last day there. After check-in all 6 of us make our way to the room. During check-in I had made comments about my 3 kids, etc. and that there were 6 of us. So we make our way up to the 5th floor with all our stuff (including an 86 year old). We get up there and find a small room with two double beds, which left us all scratching our heads looking for the bedrooms and\or adjoining room. Upon inspection, the big packet of documents we received were for another family and apparently so was the room. I guess I just don't understand how they could make that mistake when the names didn't match and they could see all six of us plowing trough the lobby with all our stuff? The people also had a packet with all this extra stuff, discounts and freebies that we had to return. Not only did I have to return them, I had to walk the other couples packet down to the front desk. I guess if you book on Expedia, you must not be their prime target for a time share. The fact that I know what Expedia IS, probably throws up a red flag to them that we're to young to be interested. I guess I can't argue with that logic since we would all prefer to go to different places yet unseen, but it's still a bit of a rub.

I had everyone wait while I went downstairs to find our normal room. They eventually got us into the correct room, which was a 2 bedroom suite. The room was really nice and large. Two bathrooms, a dining area, full kitchen, etc.. The location of the hotel is really nice since it's on Lake Huron. It seems like the section of the hotel we were in was built and built well. However, the other side looked like it was still under construction and it looked shabby and low quality. There were construction people all over the place using the elevators and carrying supplies and tools. The elevator broke once, which made getting to the sixth floor difficult for my 86 year old mother. The pool area is nice, but for some reason the water slide was closed during the week and only open on weekends. My kids were very disappointed about this. It seemed strange since it was summer and the hotel was quite full.

I can't complain too much. The stay was peaceful on the lake, mediocre and uneventful. The suite was really nice and large. After staying at both of their resorts and seeing what's at the Blue Mountain Village, I will give them a try next time. They are further from town where we needed to go a lot. However, I'll drive a little further for the activities and accommodations we saw at Blue Mountain (review of the resort and activities there coming soon).

Room Tip: Avoid the side that's under construction and try for a lower floor

Your feedback is welcome at the Living Water Resort. Although we are always disappointed to hear that someone’s stay was not to their satisfaction, we appreciate knowing what issues you experienced so that we can take the appropriate steps to correct them. Our pool is open from 8 a.m. thru 10 p.m. with the waterslides operational at after 4 p.m. during the weekdays until school is out. After that time the slides will operate during the day.

Our first time at Living Water and it's great. Staff has been helpful, warm & inviting. Location is fantastic. You can remain at the resort & relax at the pool or hot tub. Go up to the great rooftop & read a book; or just walk about the area enjoying the many hikes. A fantastic getaway.

We decided to take a mini vacation in the Collingwood area and stayed at this Living Waters Resort. The place looked well taken care of and it appears they are planning on expanding the resort much more. I really like the lay out of the rooms. We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit that, I can only imagine, would rent as 2 separate 1 bedroom units. There is a main entrance to the rooms from the hallway with 2 separate entrances to the other single bedroom units. One unit had a full kitchen while the other had a half kitchen. I was very pleased with the room although the stove could have been cleaned a lot better than it was.
The location is great if you plan on running into town to get a something. There are many stores within walking distance.
The resort has a roof top area that is quiet, overlooking the bay, the pool area has 2 hot tubs, 1 indoor and 1 outside, a waterslide and lifeguards on duty during certain times.
When I travel back to Collingwood/Blue Mountain are I will definitely look at staying at the Living Waters Resort again.

Room Tip: Choose a room that looks out towards the bay. It's a much better view than the parking lot

Thank you very much for your review. We appreciate the comments our customers provide and the comment regarding the cleanliness of your stove have been brought to the attention of our housekeeping department. The level of cleaning was not in keeping with the high standard we strive to maintain and exceed.

On the surface of it, it may appear good for families but actually, until you stay, you would realize why it REALLY is not if you are travelling with kids under 5. As well, NOT AT ALL good for light to medium sleepers
1. The room doors are very heavy and slam shut very very loudly
2. Staff access doors are even louder and the staff do not try to assuage the heavy banging sound that reverberates and wakes the kids
3. You can here everything from neighbouring rooms. Had loud college kids above us and it felt like they might come through the ceiling
4. Can here toilet, shower, tub and pissing from room above
5. A is very loud
6. Rules about toddlers using pool slide are prohibitive considering my husband was with him as well as three life guards
7. Rooms rather run down. Entryway carpet to our two floor suite was filthy and stained.
8. Accessories in kitchen old.

Room Tip: Ask not to be near staff access stairwell. Slamming of doors all day and night is awful. Try for mi...

We are sorry to hear that you had noise issues during your stay. I will certainly have our maintenance department view the door closing mechanisms to see what adjustments can be made. In regards to the waterslide, our apologies that your toddler was not able to enjoy the slide. The regulations provided to us by the Technical Safety Standard Association are very strict to the height and swimming abilities of the guests wanting to use the slide.
