“Modern...but a bit Cool”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Kitchener hotel last December and found quite a few changes from my previous stay. This used to be Delta hotel with the typical delta features which i rather like.
Some changes are good- overall brighter look with a new paint job and no more long jaunts to the elevators in the alternate section.
The colour is a bit icy- a sort of green which is not the warmest vibe for a December stay. This colour seems to permeate the lounge/restaurant area.
The bar...next to the resto, is a bit devoid of welcoming atmosphere..a bit clinical for my taste.
Also there seems to be 24/7 disco music playing on the PA system which ...especially at breakfast, I found annoying. Something softer would would be better.
The rooms seem smaller as they have been seemingly re-designed. the bathroom in my room was very small and, due to the designer's strange idea of space-management, had a large, modern basin which took up all the surface area of the sink, thereby precluding any space for a toiletries bag. Impractical and just a head-scratcher.
The staff are still very agreeable and helpful and it's nice to see the same restaurant staff who were always nice and friendly.
All in all, the modern re-do doesn't work for me but I suppose the great location makes up for these petty annoyances.
But please- gimme some sink space won't you?

Room Tip: always get a high floor

We were very disappointed with our stay at this hotel. Check in was very slow as there was a large group checking in ahead of us.
There were a couple of sports teams staying at the hotel and the kids from the teams ran up and down the halls chasing each other and yelling until well after 11:00PM. Management made no attempt to stop this.
We ordered a bottle of wine from room service and it took over an hour to arrive. Our $30 bottle cost us over $45 by the time all the gratuities etc. were added.
We were unable to use the pool as it was filled to capacity with kids from the sports teams.
We are used to having complimentary bottled water in our hotel rooms. None was provided and Kitchener water tastes awful.

We annually visit the KW for sports tournaments. Had a friend book a hotel since most were taken. When I pulled into the parking lot my stomach sank....oh no...this was the old Delta.

Upon entering the lobby, my heart jumped in joy!!! Total reno!!!!
Very boutique chic! Seriously! Every floor, every inch was almost renovated since the handover to the Crowne Plaza! Shocked. Apparently designed by a T.O firm. Gorgeous and tasteful- really. I know.

Only downfall, restaurant very understaffed. The upside, excellent customer service to correct, from restaurant manager to front desk.

Yup. They will be seeing us again!

Well-appointed, comfortable room. Shuttle service, delivery of forgotten toiletries, breakfast request accomodations, and staff thinking to bring me bottled water when I was ill were much appreciated!

My first impression of this hotel is that it was recently updated. The rooms were clean consisting of two very comfortable queen sized beds. The bathroom was fine, but had NO counter space:( I thought the pool was fine until I viewed the water from a window at the lower level it was full of hair and a large amount of particles floating, definitely not cleaned often enough. The buffet breakfast was fine, the hot food could have been warmer, pastries a bit fresher, however the choice was decent (included fresh fruit ,cheese ,yogurt, cereal, eggs, bacon, sausages french toast, home fries, and bagels, bread and croissants and pastries) can't really complain for the price we paid.

I stayed here for two night for work meetings in the area. You can get to King St/city hall and the restaurants in that area in a 10-15 minute walk.

Crowne Plaza has taken great care and cost in renovating the hotel. Often when a hotel renovates there is some small detail in the rooms that betrays its age but this isn't the case. They've done a beautiful job with the rooms and common space.

I stayed in the King executive room. It was spacious, comfortable and well decorated. It came with a fridge, microwave, coffee maker and large flat screen tv as well as a nice sized working desk, couch and ottoman. The new bathroom had a full vanity, walk in shower, tile floors and make up mirror. The mattress and bedding were comfortable and good quality.

A full buffet breakfast, including coffee and OJ, was included with the room. The staff in the restaurant were friendly and attentive and kept our coffee hot and topped up. The breakfast had something for everyone with a good selection of cold buffet (yogurt, cottage cheese, fruits, cheese, cold cuts & hard boiled eggs), hot buffet (french toast, beans, hash browns, bacon, sausage & scrambled eggs one morning, the other had waffles, frittata, bacon, sausage & potatoes). A large selection of pastries and cereal were provided as well.

I ordered room service one night and it came in good time by another friendly staff member.

Valet parking is very reasonably priced and wifi was available complimentary in the room. Front desk staff were all helpful and genuinely friendly.

The area has a limited number of hotels of this quality at a reasonable price. I'll be staying here for all of my business visits in the KW region.

We stayed for one night as we were attending a concert at the Center in the Square. The Center was a short 10 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel was recently renovated and very modern. The rooms were very clean, washrooms well stocked and bed comfortable. The TV was also a new large screen with all channels in HD. WiFi was free and strong. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again All the staff we met were friendly and helpful.
