We just got back from visiting St. Jacobs in Ontario. We enjoy the village and the local Farmers market / flea market. More about that in a review of St. Jacobs itself.
We heard about this residence through some neighbours and decided to give it a try. We have now been there 4 times over the last few years.
As the name implies, it is actually the off campus residences for the Conestoga college nearby. It is located just off the 401 at the next exit west of King St. exit for Kitchener.
We find that it is very simple to get to and just a short 15 or 20 minute drive to St. Jacobs. All on 4 lane highways.
The residence itself is nothing special. You won't find meals, room service or a pool. The check in staff are accommodating and the rooms are always clean. a simple continental breakfast is available included in your price. It is self serve in a small cafeteria on the ground floor and consists of bagels, toast, cereals, fruit, coffee, tea, milk, juice and condiments for the toast. Not Gourmet but enough to get you to a restaurant for lunch.
You generally will get a 2 bedroom with kitchenette since they are set up as residences for students. Best of all, the price is about 1/3 to 1/4 of what you will pay in or close to St. Jacobs. We are willing to travel a little and not have luxury surroundings since we are only there to sleep anyway.
we would recommend this to anyone on a budget and those who prefer to spend their money at the market instead of the hotel.
