“Unforgettable. We want to go back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2010

Breakfast at Beacon Shore is bliss. Bob's fruit plate is top class and Jacquie's Beacon Shore Pancakes are the ultimate stylish comfort food. (I requested the blueberry pancakes three mornings in a row, they were so good! See picture.)

We would go back just for the breakfast, but there were so many soul-stirring things about this place it can't all be captured in a short review. The view of Georgian Bay from the house or patio during breakfast, the 1901 lighthouse on the front lawn, the private dock complete with Muskoka chairs for relaxing.

One of my favorite features was the overall privacy. Beacon Shore is slightly out of town (though we never felt deprived of access to fun stuff to do) and surrounded by pine forest. Coming home to the privacy and the beautiful cottage garden after a busy day of float plane rides or cruising the bay was a delicious bonus. And the pampering we got from Jacquie and Bob surpassed anything we had previously experienced.

We feel so lucky to know about this place! On top of that, the room rates are so reasonable. We rated the benefits to our travel budget an A++. Now that we're back home we're still talking about when we can go back. . . .

We were stunned by the beautiful house and gardens, which look like something out of a magazine named "beautiful places to stay". The exceptionally friendly, helpful welcome from Jaqui and Bob added to the overwhelming impression that we had arrived in holiday heaven. The beautiful decor, high specification finish and superbly comfortable bedroom (suite) created a location that we will never forget. Add into that beautiful, carefully tended gardens with impeccably placed garden chairs for lovely views; that special jetty with 2 carefully placed chairs to complete a relaxing view of the lake; deer, hummingbirds, squirrels and other wildlife in the gardens -and anyone staying here will feel lucky to have found it! We didnt want to leave. Top that off with the carefully and beauitfully presented breakfasts that set you up for the day and we can't imagine that anyone who stays here would ever want to go anywhere else.
Thankyou so much Jaqui and Bob - and Beacon Shores.

The Beacon Shore B&B is a beautiful home nestled away on a gorgeous property overlooking beautiful Georgian Bay. This was our first stay (but not our last) and we recognized that, although only the daffodils, tulips, and trilliums were in full bloom, the gardens on this property will be stunning in the summertime.

Our room, the largest of the three, had a spectacular view of the decommissioned lighthouse on the property, and sparkling Georgian Bay. It was clean beyond belief, quiet, with comfy quilts, flatscreen tv, walk-in closet, and an enormous private bath with shower and tub. We peeked at the other rooms, and they were both lovely as well, with private baths for each one, although not ensuite.

Jacquie and Bob, as great hosts, spent time with us showing us the property, explaining some of the history of the area, and treating us to delicious breakfasts (healthy too) with several choices on the menu. Breakfast in the sun room also provided a beautiful view of the gardens and the Bay - the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee.

This is a wonderful getaway if you just want to sit quietly in an Adirondack chair overlooking the Bay, or spend a romantic evening at the water's edge, or go on a long nature walk. Although Midland and Penetang are only minutes away, you'll be tempted to stay put and just enjoy all this home and surrounding property has to offer. I would HIGHLY recommend the Beacon Shore. We will most definitely return!

Being from Texas, I ave never had a white Christmas with family or really even thought about it until I married a Canadian who wandered to Texas. After a few years or marriage we had spent different holidays with the in-laws in Canada except Canada. Not wanting to stay with family when we travel, we found Beacon Shores a few years ago and have stayed their every since. Jacquie & Bob have treated us like family and to stay in Midland without seeing them would just not be a complete trip. Knowing that everyone has different family plans, we reserved or favorite room almost a year in advance. The Black's contacted us a few months before and said that their family was celebrating Christmas early and that we could stay with them for the holiday. Christmas in Canada was truly and experience not to be missed with the snow, the frozen lake, and Boxing Day. But most of all Food & Friendship are the two items that the Black's exceed all expectations.

Our stay at Beacon Shore over the Easter weekend was a little slice of Heaven! Bob and Jacquie are the sweetest hosts--and extremely knowledgeable about what to see in the area. Their magnificent property offers a forest with walking trails where you might get a glimpse of local deer, as well as a beautiful, Georgian Bay waterfront where you can swim or just relax in the big Muskoka chairs on the dock. Their beautiful home is immaculate and filled with many welcoming details--from luxury strawberry soap for the shower to a comfy sitting room just for guests that overlooks the lake. To top it off, the breakfast menu was the best I've ever had at a B&B. We weren't hungry again until evening! I definitely can't wait to return for another visit this summer!

One of the best places we've ever stayed at. Jaquie and Bob were perfect hosts and the place is wonderful. The choice of breakfast was delicious.

We stayed for one night at Beacon Shore to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and it was a wonderful experience.

We were fortunate to get the suite room which was perfect, very spacious, views of the lake from both the living room area as well as the large and well appointed ensuite bathroom. Everything was just right. Walking through the grounds down to the waterfront and a small private pier where 2 chairs were placed so we could watch the sun rise over the bay early in the morning (and take a quick swim). Beautiful home, very tastefully furnished, everywhere spotlessly clean. Breakfast on the terrace in the morning in the sunshine was a real treat, witha a delicious and interesting selection of freshly prepared food. Always we noticed attention to detail and warm and friendly service. We had the opportunity to wander through the gardens and share in the beauty of their home in its superb location.

Jacquie and Bob are excellent hosts, and we are hoping it won't be too long before we get another opportunity to come back and stay at Beacon Shore.
