“Best Indian in Newmarket so far.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

My wife and I wanted to try this place out since we walked by it and had a peek inside. The smell got us right away, so we had to try it. We were not disappointed. The beef vindaloo was rich and flavourful with the right amount of heat, the butter chicken was great, the raita was thin but tasty, and the mixed vegetables were fantastically flavoured and fresh as far as I could tell in a rich oily sauce, the naan bread was made fresh and wasnt too thick or thin, its extra which it shouldnt be in my opinion.
All in all by leaps and bounds the best Indian food out of only the two we've tried in town, definitely competes with other Indian restaurants out of town as well.

“The real deal Indian restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012

Different than your usual canadianized Indian food. Very tasty. The owner will make menu items less spicy if you request it.

“Good authentic Indian Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2012

I've eaten a lot of Indian Food - in Canada, the UK, and the US. This is pretty good stuff, I've become a regular takeout customer over the years. Love the chana masala, the kormas, and the pakoras. Owner is a nice guy and very personable. One catch is it is cash only, no credit or debit cards, but as long as you know this (and there is a bank machine in the strip mall) then you're good to go.

“Looking for a good neighbourhood Indian place to order takeout on the weekend? This isn't it.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2011

My husband and I are very fond of Indian food, and were glad to see India Time open up near us a couple of years ago. The first time we tried takeout, no one answered the phone for some time, and then we were told they weren't doing takeout that day because they were too busy. Odd, but they were new, and we thought we'd allow for growing pains. This recent episode of ordering takeout, however, nailed their coffin shut for us. The website is adequate, the menu is easily navigated, and there was no problem ordering over the phone and picking it up. Unfortunately, the food was just terrible, and we were very disappointed. The raita was thin and watery, the chicken dish was greasy and used the cheapest parts of the chicken, and the meat had clearly not been trimmed before cooking - there was a lot of fat floating on top of the sauce. Whatever spices that were in this dish were completely overwhelmed by the incredible amount of salt. The lamb biryani was equally salty, and the lamb pieces were still on the bone, and included very little actual meat - again the cheapest possible cuts. Finally, cashews were conspicuously absent from a vegetarian dish advertising a cashew sauce with tomato, and the sauce itself had more than a hint of Campbell's Tomato Soup about it. Inexcusable. Very disappointing, as it would be great to have a selection of good ethnic restaurants in our suburban enclave, which mostly offers chain roadhouses. We will not be ordering from India Time again.
