“Not so great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

I have stayed at the quality inn at other locations before and was pleased with the accommodations but this location is just OK. It is an older building which is a detached style from the lobby. The rooms are decent but older and we were overall just disappointed for the price of 120 plus tax that we paid.

We stayed here August 10th and 11th. We were in Parry Sound for a baseball tournament. Our rooms were all close together which was nice. You could sit right outside the rooms to gather with your group. Hotel grounds were generally clean. Beds not too bad, and there were enough towels for the 4 of us. The internet works fine, coffee in the room, and saw a bear. That's the highlights.

Golden Griddle serves only a buffet for the breakfast in the morning. Second morning there was barely anything on the buffet. Toilet was very slow to flush, and in the morning with 4 of us...well that wasn't a good thing. Rooms are just tired, but there were no obvious maintenance issues. The pool - colour of the water was gross so I didn't go in, but did enjoy the hot tub. This place would have been beautiful when it was first built and enjoyed in the 70's.

Generally an okay place to lay your head for this kind of weekend, but check in was very very slow and although we paid for what we got - pretty cheap weekend, I would not recommend this hotel and would not go back. I rated a 3 but really it was only 2.5. The buffet/non-existent breakfast issue and the very slow check in were a real turn off.

Don't even know where to start...Room smells, Water is YELLOW, tub clogs and so on and so one....I could have save my self $300.00 and slept in my car..would have been cleaner! Save your MONEY and go else where.

Room Tip: Only advise I have is DON'T COME HERE!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of the Quality Inn. We apologize that our stay with us was not what you expected, and we have noted the concerns and observations you have written. We are currently in the midst of installing a new water system. We do apologize for the colour of the water; however, it is from a well because we are in the cottage country. The water is tested and approved on a weekly basis by the Orilla Lab for healthy and safety including consumption.
We hope if you decide to stay with us next time we exceed your expectations!
Have a fantastic summer!

During our trip we stayed at over 20 different hotels and this one was by far the most negative experience we encountered. Check in took a very long time. The woman seemed to have no idea what she was doing. We were on the 2nd floor of the back building which had a philthy staircase and a hallway that smelled strongly of disinfectant. We then discovered that not only did our toilet not flush, it was still full of smelly urine. When I called the desk she sounded put out and said she would have to see if she could find someone to fix it. After waiting a while we went back to the desk to see what was happening. The woman seemed to know nothing of our problem and proceeded to try and check us in again! I explained our problem to her again and then she finally switched our room. We then went out to go for a swim in the outdoor pool but it was so cloudy and green that you couldn't see the bottom! The happiest part of this stay was leaving in the morning!

What standard to apply?

The building's roof has solar panels, but asphalt shingles are long past their replacement date. The entrance has a card security lock, but it was never enabled. The hallway is clean, but the smoke smell persists. The room is clean, but the ceiling has a hole from presumptive water damage. The sliding exterior screen door has a large rip. The queen bed in the executive suit bed looks tired, but we slept well. The fixtures are new, but the toilet is small and cramped. The shower water pressure is fine, but the temperature keeps changing.

Hey, we were comfortable and slept well. But we weren't using the fold-out couch at the front. Gaps around the door allow great hallway volume into the room.

Breakfast at the on-premises Golden Griddle was a surprise. The buffet scrambled eggs must have arrived seconds before we did - they were perfect. The buttermilk pancakes were fluffy and delightful.

The staff was friendly.

I have personally booked over 15 nights with the Quality inn here in parry sound and I have nothing but positive things to say. It is the best value you will find in the area hands down.

The staff are very helpful and the rooms are everything you need. If you are looking for a good value in the Parry Sound area then I would look no further. I am very happy with this place. Unlike other hotels like the Georgian Inn (which is horrible),

Formerly known as the Jolly Roger, this hotel was surprisingly clean. The food was something to be desired though. What is this world coming to with fake pre-made bagged mashed potatoes and gravy out of a can. I won't comment on the meat. Ugh! The air conditioning had a hard time keeping the room cool, but we are in a scorcher right now with temperatures feeling like 40C. Hot, hot, hot. Overall the staff are friendly and we had a good visit. I would stay here again.
