We just came back from testing out our tent trailer for one night. We ended up at Oastler Lake Provincial Park as this was a last minute trip and had to go to whatever campground that had space available. Our actual site was a good size, some shade and some sun. If you moved to the road, you could see the beach...very pretty to be so close. Some sites are right next to the beach. There is a dog beach which we appreciated as we had our dog with us. This beach is quite nice as well, (smaller sandy beach than the main beach....that's ok), and we found it to actually prettier in that it was a little more secluded and less open to the larger waterway. There was also a dock there for boaters. The dogs were allowed off leash while in the water. It was a great place for the dog to swim and get cooled off. We enjoyed swimming there as well. The water was very refreshing and warm. The comfort station was clean although supplies (toilet paper) could have been restocked better (especially for women's washroom). They also have toilet areas, which were clean, flush toilet and small sink for washing hands. It is also close to Parry Sound if supplies are needed. Only a 5-10 min trip to town. We would visit this campground again except for one thing. They do warn on the park website "Note: railway tracks near the park are used frequently. "......and believe me, this is VERY TRUE! Heard the train a bit through the day and found it kind of nice, but we didn't think the trains would be running through the night. We were WRONG. The trains go through 24 hrs a day, and frequently. At times, we could hear 2 trains and both of them honking their horns simultaneously and very loudly. Hearing these trains during the night was horrible and definitely affected sleep. With the quiet of the night, the trains sounded even louder. For this reason alone, we will never go back to Oastler Provincial Park.
