“Music and hockey - don't get any better!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

Built at great expense and continuously funded by a lot of tax payers' money, the Stockey Centre (or the hockey-stockey centre as locals call it) offers professional musical performances as good as any you'll get in Toronto. It is a main attraction that draws summer crowds to Parry Sound. Open all year long but with limited venue during the off season. Please help out the local tax payers by buying a ticket or two to attend a performance that'll leave you asking for more. Check out the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame while you are there.

“Definitely Worth It”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

We attended a jazz performance during the Festival of the Sound. We have been to the Centre several times. The accoustics are great, as is the ambience among the wood and stone interior.

“Acoustics are wonderful.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

This is the home of the Festival of the Sound which runs every summer for 3 weeks with some of the top classical and jazz performers in the world. Almost all the seats are worth it. Performers come back year after year because they love the place. One can buy wine or ice cream or coffee and they often break so the audience can take in the spectacular sunsets over Georgian Bay.

“Charles W Stockey Centre for the Performing Arts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

The Centre contains the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame but I was only there once about 10 years ago. It also contains one of the best small (approximately 425 seats) concert halls in Canada. It has excellent acoustics and can compete with similar sized halls in Europe. It is situated on the shore of Georgian Bay in Parry Sound and the Festival Hall is lined with local rock and has beautiful timbers supporting the roof. The Festival of the Sound holds a 3 1/2 week Festival there every summer (last two weeks of July, first week of August, and hosts international musicans playing classical chamber music and a great jazz weekend.

“Super Acoustics, fairly comfortable seats”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

The Stockey Centre is a great hall for all kinds of performances. The acoustics are really great which isn't surprising when you look closely at the use of wood, natural uneven stone and the placement of seats. You get a good view of the stage wherever you sit - including the mezzanine boxes. The seats are quite good but a bit wobbly - perhaps because its a multi-purpose hall - and it gets painful after a while. Helps a lot if you take a seat pad/cushion.
