Owner description: Enjoy a captain's-eye view of Georgian Bay's 30,000 Islands Biosphere Reserve aboard the 550-passenger Island Queen. We offer two and three-hour sightseeing cruises that bring passengers surprisingly up-close to the pristine beauty of Georgian Bay's remote island wilderness and the rustic charm of its grand summer cottages. Follow in the wake of early explorers as the captain steers the ship past granite shoals into narrow channels and shallow waterways exploring out-of-the-way places within the world's largest freshwater archipelago. The Island Queen is fully equipped with comfortable inside and outside seating, large viewing windows, outside observation decks, wheelchair accessible washrooms, a snack bar, a full commentary and heat for our fall colour cruises. Cruises depart daily from June 1 to mid-October each year from the town dock in Parry Sound, Ontario.

“Great way to see some of the 30,000 islands on our Beautiful Georgian Bay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

Plenty of room to move around. Spectacular views no matter where you sit or stand. If it is a nice warm day, go outside, but inside is cozy and warm for cooler/ windier days!

Dear Passenger,
Thanks so much for reviewing our cruise. The third deck of the Island Queen is always the most popular with our passengers because it is open to the sunshine, but you're right, there are great views wherever you choose to sit or stand on the ship. The open viewing areas on the bow of each deck are popular too. Thanks again.

Dear Passenger,
Thanks for your review and thanks for mentioning the Festival of the Sound music cruises. They are a highlight of the summer for many visitors to the area and the variety of music offered during the Festival is fantastic. The sunsets on the Festival of the Sound evening cruises are great too! Thanks again.

“Beautiful scenery on a comfortable boat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

We took the 3 hour afternoon cruise in July 2013. The boat was really nice, lots of places to sit, either inside or outside. Recorded messages were played along the cruise with interesting information. Coffee and snacks aboard at reasonable prices. Scenery was very nice...a great taste of the Canadian landscape. Enjoyed it a lot!

“Relaxing way to sight see Georgian Bay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

We have been on the Island Queen several times and always try to take visitors on a cruise when they come up to visit us. The Island Queen is a wonderful way to see the thousands of islands that are in Georgian Bay very close to Parry Sound. It's a relaxing and leisurely way to sight see. The most exciting part is when the ship sails through the "hole in the wall" a narrow channel between two massive rock cuts between islands. Everyone marvels at how close the boat fits the space. The ship is large enough that you can roam around from place to place if you get bored from sitting in the same area for a long time. The nicest place , weather permitting, is of course on the top deck. Once we were fortunate enough to take a trip on the Island Queen during the Festival of the Sound and we heard a live band concert aboard. The band played "Canadian Sunset" as the sun was going down. It was beautiful.

The scenery is wonderful. I would recommend the 2 hour trip. 3 hours is a very long time and sometimes people get bored with it.

“Wonderful experience for young and old alike. Would highly recommend!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

While visiting relatives in Parry Sound, a number of us from out of town ventured out as a family for the 2 hr morning cruise of the 30,000 islands on a hot humid July summer day. We chose the outdoor top deck and it was recommended that we sit on the right side of the boat for the best views. We were a large group and it was a nice way to spend a couple of hours together, taking in the beautiful scenery, cottages and shorelines, while learning a little bit about the history of the area.

Staff were very professional, the ship was clean and comfortable with a snack bar on the indoor deck and the sound system was excellent, making it easy to hear the commentary as we went along.

We all marvelled at the scenic beauty of the area and were in awe of the ship's ability to navigate through the narrow channel at "Hole in the Wall". We all agreed the two hour tour was "just enough".

The gift shop was quite impressive as well and I would recommend a stop there even if you don't have time to do the Island Queen Cruise!

All in all an enjoyable way to spend some time with family and take in the beautiful scenery that Georgian Bay has to offer.

Dear Passenger,
Thanks so much for your review. The "Hole in the Wall" is always a popular channel to cruise through. Sometimes cottagers will be in the channel jumping and diving off its tall granite cliffs. If you liked the "Hole in the Wall" you'll also like some of the other narrow and shallow channels that we navigate through on our three-hour afternoon cruise! If you are ever back in the area, please join us for our afternoon cruise too! Thanks again.
