“This place is amazing!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

Grey Gables Inn was fabulous, and Pembroke was a wonderful surprise! A nice town, bigger than we thought, with lots of lovely residential areas. We couldn’t believe our eyes when we arrived at “Grey Gables” - AKA “Downton Abbey” for us!!! This B&B was a huge, fabulous, amazing old lumber baron’s mansion built in the 1800’s and beautifully kept / restored...furnished with all original English Tudor style furniture. Gorgeous woodwork and beautiful ornamental tin ceilings, perfectly decorated large bedrooms with comfortable beds, TV and desks - really one of the most AMAZING places we’ve ever stayed!
In the evening we ate at a very good Italian restaurant - Anthony’s - recommended by the B&B owners, Shirley and Art. They prepared a wonderful breakfast of eggs benedict, fresh fruit, sausage, bread, yogurt on exquisite old china....MMMmmmm...we hated to leave this gorgeous mansion!!!

Room Tip: ANY room here will be awesome. We had the least expensive room and it was huge, comfortable, wonder...

This is absolutely the best B and B that I've ever stayed in! My husband is still talking about it. The Inn is an old majestic home that once belonged to a wealthy lumber baron. When I booked they said we had the "library". Well not only did we have a massive old library just like out of a movie, we had a beautiful bedroom and ensuite too. I felt like I was in an episode of Downtown Abbey. In the evening we sat out on the front porch and had drinks. A short walk to the downtown for dinner. In the morning we sat in the dining room and were treated to an awesome breakfast. I might just go back to stay for no reason!

Room Tip: They have several "suites" which I would chose from. Take a walk around the neighbourhood...

This was our first time staying in a B & B didn't know what to expect for sure. We had the Library Room it was unreal, very clean and comfortable, quiet. We found the whole house to be great. Enjoyed a drink on the sun porch. Breakfast was great, owner very helpful and friendly. It was a great choice!

We stayed here for a few days while waiting for our household effects to arrive. The B&B is in a great location for shopping and dining.

We stayed in the Kensington Suite for a cheaper price than staying in a regular hotel. There is plenty of space! The decor of the suite is pretty. The kitchen in the suite is supplied with dishes, utensils, stove, fridge, etc which was perfect for us. There's also a sitting area with TV, and a second bedroom that we didn't use.

There's a separate entrance as well, but we used the front entrance as our personal entrance stairs were pretty icy. When we needed to stay an extra day due to a delay with our house, Art & Shirley said it was no problem! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Very enjoyable stay, very comfortable rooms, excellent location, breakfast can't be beat! Lots of parking and close to several good eateries. We recommend Anthony's Italian Restaraunt. The price is very good. They even had WIFI

Room Tip: They are all great rooms

The owners are gradually restoring/renovating a room each year but you would never know it. Everything we saw was elegant, immaculate and very characterful. By their own admission they had been stretched the day we arrived by a wedding on the premises, but this had no impact on our stay. Wi-fi worked well and I was even able to watch the climax of the Ryder Cup live without ads.

We ate at a recommended Italian restaurant just a short walk down the street that was excellent. Breakfast was stylish and very good, bed comfortable and the room spacious.

Only found out from the room notes as we were leaving that they ask you to remove your shoes when you enter as they have a dirt drive and highly polished floorboards. Also they mention a separate entrance for guests that we never saw. Idea is to preserve their main impressive polished wooden staircase, but no one mentioned it so I hope we didn't leave too many scratches. Guess its not a hanging offence.

Business brought me to Pembroke, and having researched the hotels (choices were not great), I settled on this B&B. It was cheaper than the Travelodge and BW and closer to downtown where I needed to be. Late check-in was not a problem, having pre-arranged when I booked. Shirley informed me when I arrived that the room at I had booked was not available so I was being upgraded to the Library room. This room was unbelievable, with a huge sitting room area with fireplace, a modern bedroom and bathroom and separate entrace to the parking lot. No problem connecting to WIFI. The breakfast was excellent both mornings. I will be back next time I am in the area.

Room Tip: Being an older building, there is some expected noise from the upper floor to the lower floor if occ...
