I went to this restaurant the other day. And I am appalled at the service and the attitude of the servers.
The restaurant is not at 1/3 capacity when I walked in for dinner service. We waited for a few minutes to be seated, because the 3 waiters were busy between bar duties and attending to customers.
We finally got a seat and were given menus. Once we had decided on what to ordered, it took us more then 10 minutes to flag a waiter down to take the order. Similar issues with the two groups that came after us.
Took a while before the waiter came back with a before meal snack of home made crackers. But I had to inform them that I would like some water, which the waiter did not provide, he has the cups but no water in it. Same thing happened to the two group after me.
This location is next to two hotels but are also in a highly Asian/Chinese population. So it was no surprise to see that the two groups after me were two Chinese woman and a Chinese family with two kids.
I am also Asian/Chinese.
So we all are waiting for our food to arrive but the group that had ordered after me got their food first (Family with two kids) while mine and the two Asian woman were still waiting.
Next thing you know, two gentleman sat on a table next to me. I was shock at what happened next.
The two gentlemen seems to be of Indian decent. But right after they sat down, the waiter gave water in cups, and the cracker snack. This is even before they ordered. So the two gentlemen talked/chat while looking at the menu. The waiter took their first order which was a snack and drinks.
Needless to say, their snack and drink seems to come right away while I was still awaiting.
I had finally got my snacks, surprisingly, it was delivered by the kitchen staff and not the waiter like the other table with the two gentlemen.
Food finally arrives, the entree for my wife arrived, but after she finished, mine was still not there.
I had a feeling that mine was given to the two gentlemen's table but I did not make a scene about it.
I had to then flag a waiter down to find out where my order was. He had checked the PC. He came back and informed me that the kitchen had not made it, and if I would still like to have it. I had declined and informed him that there is no need and to cancel the order.
He then stated, "You should had let me know before so that I can inform the kitchen."
My thoughts was that if the waiter had actually taken the time and stop by my table to ask if all is ok, I would had told him. But no waiter came by my table after my glass was filled with water. This goes the same with the two group after me.
But I do noticed that the waiter did ask the table with two gentleman if everything was ok, then walked off.
My wife also told me that she had noticed that all the waiters (which was of india decent and were all male) that none of them made eye contact with her. So then I look at the waiters as they there doing their job and I had confirmed that my wife was correct. The waiters would only talk to men and doe not talk to women, except if she was a frequent customer or the one table with two women.
I am thinking in my mine that these guys are working in the old country back the 60's.
A waiter did come back with a bowl of sweets that he said that it was for free. It was cheese with milk. I said thanks with a smile but did not touch it.
I am lactose in torrent, so I didn't even touched it, but my wife said that it was good but the milk was too strong (They must have used HOMO milk).
When I asked for the check I did double check to make sure that my order was not on it. It wasn't. I left thinking that I will never again visit this place no matter what.
Here are my thoughts:
You would get great service if you are either white or of India decent male.
If you are other, then you really should not go to this place.
Food wise, they are not that bad, but it took a while to show up at the table, so if you are in a hurry or if you are really hungry, go to other place in the area (There are many such as Wasabi Japanese buffet).
