“Fantastic Upscale Malaysian Food in Town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2012

The Toronto metro area does not have a shortage of Malaysian restaurants but few serve food like Restoran Malaysia. Every time when I come here, I have to order some sweet sour gulai dishes with calamari or prawns because it is a delicacy that I can't find else where. I am also a fan of their roti canai, which tasted like it was made fresh from scratch, udang masak asam, rendang, char kuey teow and hokkien mee. The teh tarik was also excellent and I had fun looking at how the tea is being pulled. While the flavours were great, the prices were a bit steep, especially for the drinks. $5 for ginger honey tea! Really? I also noticed that they were trying to include items which are not typically Malaysian like Singaporean laksa and pad thai. It is by no means wrong but if you're going to call it Restoran Malaysia, I hope to see a truly authentic Malaysian menu.

“delicious food and good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

Ambience -Superfab upscale space, finished in dark wood and featuring a batik mural on one wall and a huge Buddha to welcome you to this eclectic world of exotic yet familiar dishes.

Food : I simply love visiting this restaurant to celebrate special occassions with my hubby as the food is HALAL and the menu is hybridized where nasi and mee (fried rice and noodles) are staples, but cross-cultural influences reign. You will have so much to choose from. I visit this restaurant frequently and whenever i go i try something new from their extensive menu.

Service : Be prepared to wait for atleast 20 mins before you are given a table. I always had to wait. On the table service is prompt and hospitable.

Price : Full course meal needs atleast $50 for two.

“Haven't been disappointed yet.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

I keep coming back here because it's delicious, nicely decorated, and reliable. The service is great, the portions are generous, and the food comes out fast and piping hot. Yum, yum, yum!

“Average Food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2012

We visited this restaurant with friends who have eaten there before. The restaurant does not take reservations, but we had to wait only about fifteen minutes for a table for four. We ordered few appetizers and mains and shared them. The mixed beef/chicken satay appetizers were fairly good but small. The Gado Gado salad was edible but nothing great. The seafood soup was quite good. The Rendang beef main was very dry and chewy. It was almost inedible. The other two mains, the chicken coconut curry (Malay Kari) and the Nonya Melaka Curry Chicken were rather very bland. This is in spite of all three mains having a chilli next to them indicating that they are spicy. The service throughout was very good. We were looking forward to eating in this restaurant after reading the reviews but we were very disappointed. We will not be back.

“Pleasant evening”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2011

Six of us went here for dinner, it being the first time for four of us. We were very pleasantly surprised. Although very much a neighbourhood style restaurant in a plaza in a GTA suburb, it is well designed and comfortable with many of the walls having attractive brightly coloured murels. The service was prompt and pleasant.
The food was really good. Our appetizers included spring rolls, grilled calamari, mango salad and satays. All were excellent. For entrees we had beef rendang, which was a little bland and needed more zest, sea bass, tamarind beef, and pad thai. All in all a good meal. We will be back
