“Only place I stay in Waterloo.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2009

It is a great place for the money and the staff is always very nice and helpful.
I agree with the review that it is somewhat maze-like to get to the back elevators, but it is a very comfortable place to stay. I go there 3-4 times a year and have always had a great experience. It took me a couple stays to stop blowing past the entrance to it as it it nestled in somewhat behind a car dealership so prepare for a U-turn or two.
Also great and quick food at Rushes!

We stayed at this hotel for our recent conference over three days. The hotel was clean, the rooms were wonderful and the staffs were friendly and efficient. I had my young son with me and the staff really took the time to entertain him. From what I understand from the staff the hotel was renovated not to long ago. The guest room areas are more traditional in their look while the restaurant is more contemporary. The food was amazing and with 24 hour room service this was a god send with a young child. The flat screen TV was great for watching ball games. Free internet something you don’t see very often in hotels and it was through out the hotel and so I could keep in touch with my office and family without paying for phone calls. We had a room that faced the highway but the distance was far enough that we had a very peaceful night and heard no noise. The hotel is surrounded by open fields in the middle of the city so that helps. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

If this is the best Waterloo has to offer, I dread to think what the other hotels are like out there. In it's support, it is a very clean hotel, and the rooms have recently had a facelift. Both the restaurant and the bar are modern, but the other main areas in the hotel still look dated. The problem is that the recent renovation work hasn't gone far enough. My bathroom was stark, cold and lacking any sort of inspiration. The carpet was stained in the room and the heating/air con took me back to the 1980's. Nice TV and bed though and the view into the inner courtyard wasn't bad.

The route to the room was bizarre to say the least. Walking to the back of the hotel took you past the bar, restaurant, indoor pool, courtyard and meeting rooms. Pool looked ok, but again, didn't inspire.

From the outside, it looks drab and uninviting. Huge parking lot, with a freeway and Ford dealership either side. A quick walk up the road and you have some good restaurants. Wildcraft is definitely worth a look.

In summary, this place needs a total overhaul, rather than the half hearted effort it has had.

This hotel is good value for your money.

Good: The bed was very comfortable. High quality sheets and a soft duvet like a cloud. Big TV and free internet.

Bad: Getting to your room is quite difficult. It is a maze to the back of the hotel where the elevators are. And you have to walk by the open pool, which smells strongly of chlorine. The elevators are really old and slow, so it's a good thing there are only four floors. The restaurant is good, but expensive.

My wife and I stayed at the Waterloo Inn from June 5- June8, 2008. The hotel is located between a busy highway and a Ford dealership. However, we did not have any problems at all with noise. We had a room on the 2nd floor facing the parking lot. The view wasn't much, but it was quiet and the room itself was adequate. There are rooms located on the interior of the hotel overlooking an inner courtyard, this would be much more scenic, but there were quite a few people taking advantage of the good weather and having a few drinks in the courtyard, so I doubt it would have been as quiet in the rooms facing there. We ordered room service for breakfast twice. They were very fast and courteous and the food was delicious. We never had an opportunity to try the hotel restaurant Rushes, but we heard it was good. There is a nice bar in the interior of the hotel called Traders. There are some restaurants nearby, an East Side Marios, a steak house and grill, a chapters with a starbucks, harveys, BK, Tim Hortons and the Conestoga Mall is about 15min walk away. I would probably stay here again if visiting Waterloo.

Had a great stay at the Waterloo Inn. Very comfortable beds and duvets. Extremely clean, spacious rooms. It's now my favourite place to stay in Waterloo.

The breakfast at their restaurant is not included, but it is high quality. I love their cinnamon brioche!

I've stayed at the hotel a few times for work in the last several months. The room are stunning. The TV, the coffee, the room service were all fantastic, especially considering the room was less than $200USD. Oh, and the sheets are the softest sheets I've ever enjoyed at a hotel, I've actually tried to find them on the web in order to duplicate the luxury at home.

I'll second a couple of criticisms that other folks have also noted: the front desk staff was bad. They made me wait over 20 minutes to check in while one of them was on the phone with a girlfriend or something. I was finally allowed to check in when a manager happened to walk by and said something to the desk folks about helping customers instead of talking on the phone. To add insult, they were absolutely unapologetic about it.

The bathrooms were a little outdated. For instance, I was cold and wanted to take a bath, but couldn't because there was not a proper "stopper" in the tub. So, even though there is a tub in the room, you can't use it.

All in all, the pros certainly outweighed the cons. A nice hotel, a great value, but could use a little more service training.
