“B&B with welcoming host; beautiful property in charming Canmore setting!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2011

Thomas, the pleasant low-key proprietor, greeted us. All three of us enjoyed pretty, spacious rooms with nice linens. The Miele kitchen area is very pleasant complete with wonderful coffee/tea options and light delicious breakfast selections. Smaller size of property makes it especially inviting. Canmore has its own charm with restaurants, shops, an independent bookstore, and is very accessible to Banff.

As part of our honeymoon in Canada. we decided to start our stay at the Paintbox B&B in Canmore Alberta. The Inn's proprietor, Thomas and his team , provided a great experience beyond our expectations. To start with, my wife had a bad knee injury which happened a week before we left on our trip. Thomas was very accommodating and moved us to a suite on the ground floor at no additional cost to us. This was a tremendous help to us as we did not have to maneuver the steps while my wife's knee was healing
.
Throughout our stay, Thomas and the staff at the Paintbox Inn gave us information and resources to fully enjoy our first 2 days in Canada, In one case, the staff provided bikes and guidance on trails around the wonderful town of Canmore.

We enjoyed the breakfast each morning, and the tea & coffee drinks that were availble to us throughout the day.

Thomas and his crew made this a truly outstanding experience that we will always remember as our first great welcome to Canada!.

We travel from Invermere to Calgary most weeks and stay at the Paintbox each time. It's as comfortable as home and we've stayed in almost every place in Banff and Canmore. Staff is fantastic and fresh baked bread every morning! We would never stay anywhere else in the area.

Room Tip: The 'Loft' has a fireplace.

The location is great and it is easy to find. The rooms were great. This is not your typical hotel - it is much better! The service is top notch. Very relaxed atmosphere, the staff make you feel welcome, and all your needs are met. This is the only place we will now stay in Canmore. We look forward to being there again.

We truely loved this little hideout!
Sara, Malory and Thomas have created this space with lots of love and you feel it the second you walk in the door.
The location downtown cannot be beat and is directly next door to one of our all time favorite restaurants "Tapas"
We will be back!
Thank you

We felt very welcome and at home for our entire stay - 4 nights.
Upon our "unexpected" arrival Mallory very graciously dealt with my botched online reservation request.
We had the main floor suite. It's a huge beautiful space. We had 3 family members visiting regularly and when we didn't gather by the fireplace lobby we had lots of room by our own fireplace to visit.
The physical attributes of the inn are wonderful, and the attitudes of Mallory, Sara, and Thomas are just as pleasant. We felt like we were staying with friends and had the run of their house.
For an outdoor enthusiast staying in the Bow Valley their local knowledge can really add to your experience.
Where else can you have morning coffee with an ex-alpine racer and a back country lodge manager ( Sara's Dad) and discuss the day's weather and snow conditions? Perfect.
We have stayed at a dozen or more hotels in the area over the years. We agreed this was our most pleasant accommodation experience in the Valley.
The cost is more than reasonable considering the quality of the inn, the continental breakfast, the location, and the overall vibe.

Wonderfully appointed rooms, gorgeous setting, friendly staff and a great location, what more can you ask for? The Paintbox Lodge in Canmore, Alberta is a beautiful little mountain retreat located in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. Unfortunately my husband and I stayed there for only one night in late November while visiting our friends in Canmore, but I could have moved in permanently.

The Paintbox Lodge has an unassuming exterior, but the interior has recently been renovated. The renovations include a large, modern kitchen just off the main lobby, which will eventually house a cooking school (also a place where you can get fresh milk or cream for your coffee in the morning)! The atmosphere is cozy and warm with the works of local artists displayed on the walls. The rooms have all been beautifully, individually decorated - our room had two bedrooms and a little “living room” area, with a coffee maker and TV. The bathroom had a large bathtub with a separate shower, updated fixtures and big fluffy towels. The beds were so big and ultra comfortable - I had my best sleep in years!

The lodge is located within walking distance to main part of town which has numerous little shops and restaurants, and lots of hiking and biking trails close by for those that want to drag themselves out of those big comfy beds!.

Many thanks to owners Thomas Grandi and Sara Renner, and our good friends Harry and Claire for providing us with the opportunity to experience this little gem - we will definitely be back!
