When we first arrived, these chalets looked so lovely, as fairy lights were hung in the trees, and the whole town had a festive air to it.. Snow clung to the mountain tops, and it was sunny but crisp... to me a perfect Canadian evening.

We were allocated a Railroad Retreat, which is what we had asked for. The chalet was spacious, clean and well-equipped, with fantastic views over the Three Sisters' Mountains. We were right in the heart of Canmore, near to all the pubs and reataurants, and within a 25min drive to Banff Town itself. The food and drink locally were fantastic.

We went to see the Calgary Flames thrash the Edmonton Oilers
at an NHL Ice Hockey Game.

We went to the top of Sulphur Mountain in a cable car and really enjoyed the amazing views.

We ate dinner in the Calgary Tower Rotating Resaurant, which was one of the nicest meals I've ever had.

We went white-water rafting in Canmore with heavy snow falling around us. That was fantastic.

We went sky-diving at 12000ft at Biseker, just outside Calgary , and have the DVD's to prove it.

We had a great time!! Love you all x

We stayed in an upstairs 3-bedroom apartment on the non-railway side & were very pleased.

It isn't special - cheaply constructed & frequent reminders of being right next to the Canadian Pacific railway - but certainly of a good enough standard to be very comfortable.
Canmore has a lot more to offer for a stay to me than closeby Banff with prices being less as well. So a good choice of location if staying in this area.

Pros.
Good on all the things you would expect in an apartment - confortable size, clean, kitchen facilities, parking.
Close to the local micro-bar at the Grizzly Paw. a big supermarket and shops (closer still if you risk it by hopping over the railway through the gap in the fence).
Close to National Park & great mountain views in its own right.

Cons.
Railway noise, basic furbishment of rooms, no kettle in the kitchen (!)

Good for a stopover, but a utility place to stay rather than somewhere special.

“Small, dark, and noisy, but clean”

Canadian Rockies Chalets

We stayed in a Bear Den on the railway side of the property. We understood, after being told through the booking agent, and from the information on the hotel website, that the room had a fireplace and patio. We were disappointed to find neither.

The Bear Dens (the 2 bedrooms) feel semi-underground, being below the 3 bedroom suites. Because of this there is no natural light except from the bedroom windows and the place feels very dark. What may have been called a patio was a small, dark cage-like area under the patio of the 3 bedroom unit above with no seating. No fireplace. The 'spacious' living room consisted of a single couch for seating. With the 4 to 6 people they say can stay in these rooms, there would be very little room. It would have been quieter sleeping on the couch, away from the trains, but the noise through the ceiling of the (otherwise very quiet) upstairs neighbours pushing their chairs in and out around the dining table sounded like a train right in the room. We were prepared for the noise of the trains, but the noise of the heating system was almost equally loud - enough to wake us up.

The only pros were that the room was inexpensive, very clean, and they don't skimp on the towels.

I would not stay there again.

“Cheap, but I know why”

Booked a Bear Den for my parents and our family.

Cons: The room was below ground so the back end felt dark and dingy. Carpets were a mess - lots of big stains. It looked like it was in the middle of a reno - no closet doors or dressers so you'd have to live out of your suitcase in this suite. Someone had left a pair of underwear there - it was in plain view yet the cleaning staff had to be asked to remove it. It is supposed to serve 6, yet there were not enough dishes (varying numbers of cutlery, only 2 bowls). When we arrived it was after the normal check-in, and although we were given our room there was a lady in the lobby who'd been waiting over an hour for hers.

Pros: Close to everything. Had a front side room and heard no noise from main street or trains. Manager responded quickly to our underwear problem.

I stayed with my wife and parents in a Bear Den 2 bedroom unit for 5 nights in June. We had stayed before in the ski season and find Canmore to be a charming town an easy drive to the ski areas.
The unit was again very clean and we found everything we needed at a good price. There's a huge supermarket 2 minutes walk away and self catering is easier when there's a dishwasher. However downtown Canmore is very convenient to walk to from this property and has plenty of restaurants to choose from so we only had breakfast in the apartment. Our favourites were The Grizzily Paw brew pub and Tapas Spanish restuarant for something special.
There's a hot tub on site above reception and the staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed on the road side of the building. We loved the spectacular views and the occasional train that passed by didn't bother us, it only added to the magical ambience of Canmore. We'll be back again.
