Once again we had a wonderful stay at the Lady Macdonald! It was quiet, peaceful and the new linens on the bed were outstanding. We enjoyed a quiet evening in front of the wood buring fireplace - just the two of us (one of the benefits to going in the off season!). We had stayed a couple of years ago and were pleased. Since then the management has changed, but we continued to be very satisfied with the atmosphere and service. the hot served breakfast was amazing! Three cheese omlette. Very good. So was the coffee!! For the price (136.00 tax paid) great value for the night and the breakfast. We will be back and are considering making it an every 6 week experience.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in the lovely Grassi Lakes room. The room was very nice and had great views of the mountains.The Inn is in a good spot, easy to find, and the staff were all very helpful.Highlight of the stay must be the fantastic breakfast served in the lounge.
Glad we stayed in this town rather than Banff as it is much less touristy.

We had a great stay in the Lady Macdonald Country Inn. Excellent breakfast. Nice Staff, very helpfull. The only thing we didn't like were the trains in the night. Take earplugs!!

We were at the Inn for 3 nights and found it perfectly acceptable. As other reviewers have commented, the breakfast is quite good and plentiful. Peter is a very good host, and being Swiss, is trying to give the place a European flair. In Europe breakfast is an important meal and nobody scrimps the guests. He and his wife ( an Ontario girl ) have recently acquired the place and are pumping every cent into fixing things up and improving what was likely a pretty run down place at one time.So one has to forgive that the upstairs hall and rooms still have their old stained carpets. Peter vows that they will go ASAP. Train and road noise can be a problem if you are a light sleeper, but that is true of almost everywhere in Canmore. Some rooms have portable AC's , but they are almost as noisy. We brough along a small portable white noise device and got by. Other than that the rooms are clean. The only niggly thing I would mention is that staff should look more closely at the venetion blinds. Ours looked like it had never been cleaned.
