Maybe it's the "econo" in the name, or my preconceived idea, but I always associate econo with sub-par...not so at this hotel. We booked to avoid driving back home in between a two day golf tournament and we were happy with the room and the hotel over-all. Top floor room to avoid noise, and rear facing, it was clean and well appointed room with a corner fireplace two comfortable arm chairs. The bed was semi firm and linen was crisp and white, decent pillows as well. I'd happily recommend the Econo Lodge as a good value base hotel for a stay in the mountains!

We stayed at the Econo Lodge for just one night about two weeks after the Alberta Floods and the hotel seemed to be functioning normally despite the horrific stories we heard about the floods in the town - the Econo Lodge is well above the river level and wasn't affected. The room was huge, and very well appointed, by our normal travel standards, but the breakfast room is minute and forced many guests to take their breakfast back to their rooms. We should have asked, at the time, whether this was normal or a result of some post-flood changes, but we forgot. Not an issue for us - we arrived when there were still empty tables - and we would very happily return to the Econo Lodge.

Everything you need was in the room, it was clean and comfortable, but felt alittle small. Good value for your money. Had a problem with the tv remote but worked it out. Had to manually turn the tv on and off, the remote only worked to change the channel. First night was noisy with people in the hallway half the night and dogs barking..was at the front of the building but didnt hear much of any noise from the street or the Train.. Second night was quiter.

We booked this room in advance and let them know we would be arriving late. I chose this motel because it was pet friendly and was told we had a ground floor room. The front desk was very friendly, stating it was good we had a reservation as they were booked full. He had us in an upper room, but then was able to find us a ground floor room. The room we got was basic and clean, but the bed sunk a little to the middle and we could hear every sound from the rooms around. The bed above creaked everytime the person moved and we heard it. I can't help but wonder if they had put us in a better room, but we changed it. They were possibly over full because of the flooding and using more rooms than usual?

At breakfast, they had standard choices. The coffee was not so great for the first cup and didn't work at all when we went back for seconds and they had run out of bagels. They had fruit and yoghurt, cereal and bread, waffles and pancakes for toasting.

Looking at previous reviews, I feel bad about being negative and do wonder if they were just over extended because of the flooding.

I have to say, that for us, it was just an okay stay.

This time we were travelling through to the interior of BC with our dogs. We have stayed here in years past and always found it to be a good, comfortable place to stay and it still is! the room was comfortable and quiet and suitable for travellers.

We had the good fortune of staying here for several days when we were evacuated because of the flood. The staff were amazing and very helpful. Not only did they look after everyone they even went to help out a competitors hotel to when it was flooding. They took the time to help others and took the initiative to get up to date information for those affected by the flood.

I am a Canmore local resident and I finally was able to experience what we have to offer visitors in our town (a resort town in the Canadian Rockies).
During the 2013 Canmore Cougar Creek Flood, my friends and I were all evacuated from our Canmore homes but were able to get a room at the Econolodge (Canmore Mountain Lodge).
The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the staff treated us like royalty, even though some of them had suffered greater issues with the flood than we had gone through.
Cost of the rooms was very fair-priced, and even included a continental breakfast (boiled eggs/ yogurts/ toast/ muffins/ bagels/ hot & cold cereals/ and fresh fruit).
The location is also great, within short walking distance to downtown services, grocery and liquor stores, restaurants and other amenities.
The next time we have friends or relatives visiting our area, I will definitely recommend that they stay at the Econolodge!
