The customer service here was excellent - among the best we've ever had! Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed in a one bedroom suite (521) through RCI and it was perfect. The unit had clearly been recently refurbished with new paint, furniture, flooring, flat screen TV's, etc. It seemed that the only thing that had been left were the appliances and laminate countertops, which were in good shape. The unit was extremely clean. The beds were very comfortable with soft, good quality bedding and pillows. The pool area is beautiful, we had a view of it with the mountains in the background from our room and they even have it beautifully lit at night. We also loved the location, just on the outskirts of town with beautiful views. There was no housekeeping during our week long stay, which wasn't really an issue for us. There is also no oven (there is a stove-top and convection microwave), but there are community barbeques that could be used for most things you would use an oven for.
Our one complaint has to do with the gym facilities. We would give this hotel 5 out of 5 if this wasn't an issue. They are perfectly adequate for a cardio workout, with 2 treadmills, an elliptical and a stationary bike. However, the dumbbells they had only went up to 30 lbs. Most guys would find that this weight is insufficient. It seems that "chain" hotels have noticed this, and you can count on most of them having dumbbells going up to 50 lbs. Even 50 is a little light, but I suppose it is sufficient for most people. Of course, if we were only staying a night or 2 this wouldn't be an issue, but a full week is a long time to go without a workout. As a result, my husband bought a week long membership at a gym in at the other end of Canmore. We realize that this won't be an issue for many people, but for us it was and that's the only thing that kept this hotel from getting a 5 out of 5 rating.
We would love to stay here again.
