“Tiny but quite adequate”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2011

We have been timeshare owners for about 20 years and have stayed at many places. Initially I was put off by the size of the 1 bedroom unit, but I had been warned. The bedroom is quite big but they put 2 queen beds in there so you had to squeeze by the ends of the bed or along the side of one to open the window. Our view was towards the picnic area and deer would come by past the fence in the evening. The couch and chair in the living area was quite comfortable. The location is good and Canmore has several grocery stores in town. The TV had channels from Spokane, Calgary and I think Toronto. Trying to get a weather report was tough. Spokane is on a different time zone and is pretty much USA. The Calgary channels don't go west of the city. The weather station showed only Canmore, not Banff or Jasper, etc. Once in a while you got a quick glipse of the radar in the greater area. Be aware that the Esso station in town does not take USA credit cards at the pump. You have to prepay inside. Worldmark had discount tickets for the Oh Canada, Eh show in town. Instead of $75/pp it was $60. The food was good and the show was too.

Originally we were placed in room 405, which surrounded the elevator. Don't let them put you in this room, it is very strangely shaped, feels like a trailer with a narrow hallway. Noisy at night too. We complained and were moved to a room on the third floor.

This was a single bedroom suite, small, no balcony but quiet, clean and close to everything in the hotel.

Staff was excellent, extremely attentive and helpful. Lovely setting with many things to do in the immediate vicinity, and close to Calgary, Banff, Lake Louise, etc.

The one problem we found was that the exercise room was not well taken care of. One treadmill did not work, and when we reported it, we were told that it actually belonged to the hotel next door and they had no control over it. My suggestion would be to take all of the 05 rooms, 405, 305 and 505 if there is one, and turn them into exercise rooms with better equipment. There is a very good rec center in town with workout room, weights, etc and you can use it for about $4 a day, but you have to drive to town.

Room Tip: Avoid the 05 rooms as they wrap around the elevator. No washing machines in the rooms. Small rooms...

This was one of the finest timeshare experiences we have had in over 25 years of timesharing. Negatives first: Initially we found unit surprisingly small. After good night's sleep we decided size of our 1 bedroom unit was relatively small yet perfectly adequate for all our needs. Our stay was "between seasons". The heat was still on and a/c not yet available. Initially we had to leave the windows cracked open because unit became too warm. With tutoring from staff, temperature in unit became basically comfortable. We were sometimes frustrated by a sound as a fan of heater turned (recessed in a wall somewhere). Ultimately these frustrations were truly of a secondary nature and not a big thing. We found grocery store prices in Canada far higher than in U.S., where we live and were glad we started trip by shopping for food for week at wholesale house in Calgary.

There is literally no other place we would rather have stayed in the entire greater Banff region. We would give our eye's tooth to go back to Worldmark Canmore. The building must be incredibly well insulated. Everything was delightfully quiet. We never heard any sound from another unit. Our unit was adjacent to a laundry room as well as outdoor swimming pool. Convenience of being near both was terrific. Yet never once did we hear washer or dryer from laundry room even when I used them myself. Only once did I hear sounds from pool area. That was an afternoon when probably 8 kids were there and sound did not last long. The terrific insulation of the building was a real plus for us. The building is AMAZINGLY quiet.

The resort is situatied up a hill, at the base of a mountain. If you get the right unit, the views from your windows of snow peaked mountains are very special. We loved availability of conveyors to bring suitcases to unit. There is a charge for internet service in a unit but two complimentary internet computers in lobby. Early in morning or when people are eating the lobby computers were expecially accessible. Our unit and the resort were immaculate and provided everything one would need. Worldmark Canmore to us is extremely well managed as each employee-- housekeepers, front desk personnel, managers, maintenance men working around resort are unfailingly sollicitous, kind and could not do enough. Free washers, dryers, detergent, liquid detergent, spices, pool towels are graciously provided. There is a small fitness room. There are two BBQs and a BBQ kit on site. There is complimentary coffee and tea in lobby. Although it was sometimes 60 fahrenheit outside, the outdoor pool was heated and hot tub surprisingly comfortable. Coming from a warmer climate that amazed me. I read previous review about hot tub and pool being dirty. This perplexes me. I went in both and would not have done so if they were dirty. Perhaps a leaf blew in while someone was there and they over-reacted. I don't know. It is possible to walk to the town of Canmore however it entails a walk uphill returning back to the resort. The town is situated in a picturesque setting, in a valley surrounded by snow peaked mountains. Canmore has very good affordable restaurants as well as higher end restaurants and budget sandwich shops. We found the location of the Worldmark outstanding and it was no problem travelling by car to other scenic locations from there. Although the unit is relatively small, it was by far one of the finest timeshare experiences we have enjoyed in over 25 years of using timeshares in various countries. We are grateful to the Worldmark staff for this special and gracious life experience.

Room Tip: Communicate w/staff if something important to you

I took my mum and dad to Banff this past summer. Banff hotels are expensive considering I was looking for 1-bedroom suite, 2-queen and kitchen. Found WorldMark from online travel site at a great price. I was initially concerned with the location but it is only 10 mins from Banff. So much more choices in Canmore such as groceries, shopping and gas at better prices, worth the drive. They also think of all those extras such as free laundry, detergent, spices, 2 DVD players, CD player, etc.

The studio suites were ok, a little basic than some other timeshare properties. The rooms were very clean, but the outdoor pool and hot tub were very dirty. The $75 damage deposit that they charge your card when you check in was never refunded when we checked out, AND WE LEFT THE ROOM IN PERFECT CONDITION! We booked this resort for it's rpoximity to banff, but the drive was a little farther than what we would of liked, but Canmore turned out to be a nice surpirse, almost as nice as banff! I can not honestly say that I would reccoment this property, BUT you could do a lot worse! It serves it's purpose.

We stayed for one week. A very nice place. We enjoy large luxurious suites when we travel. This could have been larger and more luxurious for our taste but otherwise ... excellent.

We just returned from a one-week stay at Worldmark Candmore and had a lovely time. We stayed in a one-bedroom unit on the 5th floor - which included two queen beds in the bedroom and a pullout sofa in the living area. We found the unit to be clean, quiet and had a beautiful view of the mountains and forest. The only issue worth mentioning about the resort is that the pool and hot tubs can get pretty dirty, as they are located partially outside and have people come and go all day. But if you manage to go for a swim or soak in the hot tub earlier in the day (when it's cleaner), it shouldn't be an issue.

Worldmark Canmore is pretty centrally located. A car is a must - the resort is about a 30-minute brisk walk into town and there are gorgeous walking trails that make the 30 minutes go by really fast! With a car, it's about a 5-minute drive into town. The town of Canmore is relaxed and has a myriad of restaurants - some of our favourites included the Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co, and one that is about a 5 minute drive from downtown is Patrino's - good for Italian food. There are a couple of restaurants downtown where service and food quality were seriously lacking - make sure you ask around before making your final selection.

All in all, a fabulous, relaxing trip!
