“Overall very nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

Our main requirement when camping is that it is clean and this campground gets five starts for that. It is a bit open ( no trees) but sites are quite large that you don`t feel crowded. Friendly and helpful. Price a bit too high to do laundry but lots of machines , very clean. washrooms above standard. Down side...advertise wifi but there is none except at office and it was not working also no campfires allowed. Have a fenced in dog part but we had small dogs and it is not fenced for this size, could crawl out any where. Would stay again as a over night stay. We were travelling in travel trailer.

Fantastic options and amenities. They have an abundance of cabins...with and without bathrooms. Not only that, they have a pavilion accommodation with electric stove top burners, and sinks and counters and picnic tables. They also have a firepit pavilion, a children's play area...outside and one inside, a pet playground, pristine bathrooms and showers (cleaner than many hotels), games room/building, and the original cabins have fridges and a TV!! There is a camp store with regular stock as well as gift ideas...service is wonderful and accommodating...

Best KOA we have ever been to...Best campground that we have experienced.

Linda

Room Tip: Even if you do not camp, the cabins are worth a try.

We had a fabulous night staying at Hinton's Koa.
Below is the summary!

Pros:
-Exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable front desk person checked us in. She was a younger girl and she gave my mom and I some helpful information about the Beaver Boardwalk as well as some good eats in town. (She even showed us some photos of bats she had on her cell phone!) Super friendly, made us feel very welcome.
-escorted to our cabin by a staff member on a cart who pointed out the camp cook area as well as the washrooms etc.
-clean hot showers. FREE clean hot showers! Nice clean bathrooms.
-excellent value for the cabin we rented which included a queen bed as well as two bunk beds (no washroom). Also included a TV with cable! (what can i say, we really roughed it! haha)
They were able to accommodate us in a cabin as we originally booked a campsite which the previous Koa in Clearwater was not able to do.
- nice little store area with hot coffee in the morning.
-provided us with a great little map of Hinton including a 10% off coupon for one of the local restaurants!
-affordable!!!

Cons:
-a bit of a drive from Jasper but just a few km's outside of Hinton.
- not very "campy" for those who like a more secluded forest kind of campsite. Very open meadow and no trees or anything that could block the wind if it were to be blustery out.
- no breakfast/restaurant on site (but it IS a campsite!)

Room Tip: I'd spend the extra money and rent a camping cabin rather than a regular camp site. Comfortable...

Remember the Song !

Was a 1 night stay for my wife and I in the campground with our trailer,on the way to BC.We have stayed here before. Beautiful view of the mountains. But you CAN SEE What your Neighbor is BBQ'ing 1/4 mile away.Property needs more trees planted, flower gardens etc.etc.Staff not as friendly in the office as in previous stays.A GOOD STOP OVER PLACE 1 or 2 nights.

Stayed here for 3 nights on my 7 week road trip across Canada & the U.S.
After staying at the Edmonton Holiday Inn the previous two nights I thought I would get back to nature and try this place. Had a tent in the car but opted instead for one of the $69.00 cabins.
Kind of like little house on the prairie but with cable TV and heater for those cold nights.
Very close to the hexagon shaped outdoor camping kitchen with stovetop burners and sinks to cook your breakfast and even dinner later on if you want to. Only a short walk to the showers and laundry facilities...very clean inside with on site wifi that worked although a little on the slow side.
I used this as my base for the short drive into Jasper National Park and then back to my log cabin each night. Fantastic views of the Canadian Rockies nearby and also the most incredible double rainbow I've ever seen in my life! All in all a good experience here at KOA!

We are staying in Jasper/Hinton KOA for 2 weeks as we have things booked in Jasper. I found the staff at check in, business like, not very friendly. The campsite is nice, too open for us though. No trees, nice mountain view, no privacy. All amenities, and very clean. It is about 45 min to Jasper, which is not a problem. We were placed way in the back of the campsite, and asked if we could move sites closer to the park for the kids. We were told this was NOT possible as they have sites reserved for people. The attitude I got was not pleasant, just a straight NO!!! I get that spots are reserved, but when you reserve, you do NOT get to pick your site so I don't understand why we couldn't move as the people who are coming in are here for one to two nites, and most without children. We are here for two weeks. Every morning the campsite empties, and there are lots of spots closer to the park.
We wanted to stay right in the park, but couldn't get a site so we choose this one. Looked great online!!
No fire's on your site, community fire pit which is on the other side of the campsite from us. Don't like the hook ups in the middle of our 'yard space' That isn't pleasant, when you are cooking and eating outside.
We would not stay here for extended periods of time again. A nite or two would be alright if you had to.

We stayed in the smaller cabins. They were excellent value ($79/night) and equipped with heat, power and a tv. We did have to bring our own bedding. We've stayed at KOA's in the US, and this one has much more room between sites. It is in an open field so they aren't very private, but you have nice views of the mountains in the distance. The washrooms and showers are exceptionally clean. There are no firepits, but there is a central area that has a "community" firepit. You are centrally located, perfect if you want to check out Miette Hot Springs or William Switzer Provincial Park off Hwy 40. A little bit of a drive to Jasper, but it is much more affordable here than in Jasper Park. We found the place to be well managed and immaculate. The cabins are also pet friendly.

Room Tip: The larger cabins have washrooms for roughly $50/night more.
