We were in Abbotsford for an event and looking for a place to enjoy a good meal and conversation. 4 of us went - one ordered the wine special and one the citrus ice tea. Both came quickly and were very good.
For lunch we ordered the meatloaf, the Mediterranean Spanakopita, Chicken, Brie and Cranberry sandwich and a taster platter. All of it was delicious.
The roasted grape salad (not wilted old grapes as mentioned before) was fresh and had just the right amount of a delicious dressy. The tart apples and grated gouda were a nice touch.
The meatloaf was moist and tasty - the onion relish was tasty and the roasted potatoes very good. There were two large slices of meatloaf - so including the salad, it was a large lunch.
Chicken, Brie and Cranberry sandwich was also good -- lots of filling - fresh bread.
The spanakopita was rolled instead of the usual triangle - and the filling was very good and the phyllo crispy.
I would have to say that the best choice was the 'tasting platter' - a local farmers sausage, ruby tea chicken, baked brie, smoked gouda, pickled asparagus and balsamic figs were accompanied by french bread, artisan crackers, grapes and stawberries. Everything was fresh and it was beautifully arranged.
The cafe itself is very nice inside - tasteful, modern and comfortable. Our server was attentive. Not sure I would recommend this for a quick lunch - however, it was perfect for a relaxing lunch with lots of time to visit and enjoy great local food. We will be back again.
