“A nice, relaxing, friendly little place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2011

The accomodations were nice and our room had an incredible view. The couple that run the resort are exceptionally friendly. We had a very enjoyable stay.

Thank you for taking the time in posting your thoughts about our little property. We are glad you and your family enjoyed your time here. While we do our utmost to ensure customer service...its the wonderful valley scenery and warm breezes that do all the heavy lifting.

Sincerely,

I stayed in Destiny Beach Resort from Aug 30 - Sept 5. I arrived about 5 pm on Aug 30th and checked in, when I went to my room it was like an oven. They didn't bother to turn the air conditioning on to cool it off before I arrived. I looked around and saw crayon marks on the wall so I wiped them off. I had to wash the lid of the garbage can because it was dirty, the cupboard doors and the pots in the cupboard were dirty. The carpet was dirty and needed steam cleaning. The tea towels and dishclothes were rags. The whole place needed a paint job and a revamping, the furniture was a miss match of a bunch of junk from a flea market. The futon in the living room was covered with an old faded sheet and there was some old foam underneath it. The bed was hard as a rock. There was no bedside table, no alarm clock, no telephone, no blowdryer and only a stand up shower, no bathtub. There were no services to offer, you were given a list of rules to follow and you had to go and ask for clean towels, soap, toilet paper etc. from the office to get someone to open a locked cupboard to give you these items. The office was supposed to be open at 9 am and closed whenever they felt like it. If nobody was around they left a note on the door to find them at the beach. The rules were not followed as I observed childen swimming in the pool when it was adult time swim 1-2 pm. The office did not always open at 9 am. The parking was poor and I had to park in a narrow stall in front of my door one evening because the lot was full and it was the only spot available. I ended up scraping my passenger mirror on my new car. I was not impressed and mentioned this to the manager Chris, his comment was that I should have asked Danielle at the office to let me park in their parking lot by his house. Well Danielle was not in the office at the time and his lot has a sign that says manager parking only. No apology or nothing. The BBQ's were dirty and the BBQ brushes were worn out and very dirty. The beach was a joke, it was the size of a double garage in width, it was their personal beach and they were sharing it with everyone. There weren't even enough chairs for everyone to sit by the beach or pool. The beach had a gazebo with an old living room couch under it. No good patio furniture, just a bunch of old junk with faded stained covers. I was not impressed and spent most of my time at the main beach downtown. I wouldn't even swim there because one evening a small child was going to fish off the dock. I could just imagine walking in and stepping on a fish hook. The place totally caters to children and allows them to bring all their toys and floatys into the pool. They don't seem to cater to adults who are paying the bill. I will never stay at this place again. A total dump for the price and a "we don't care attitude" which was reflected in the way they maintained things and treated people. The whole place needs an overhaul and the management needs an attitude adjustment. Giving good customer service goes a long way but there was none here. I got the impression "if you don't like it leave" so in the end I was never so happy to be leaving a place I never felt welcome nor comfortable in.

Because one must adhere to the management reply guidelines of TripAdvisor my ability to respond thoroughly to the concerns outlined by this guest are not available.

I will simply state that I was concerned Jody G encountered a mild accident with her car, and apologize that her holiday experience was not a memorable one.

We have, as a family group been vacationing at the Destiny as far back as when it was called the Tillicum Nook. We just returned from a two week vacation from Jul.23 to Aug. 4th.
The grounds, cleanliness of the property and rooms were the best. Chris & Trish as usual were great hosts and ensured our family (8 of us) were well cared for.
Chris & Trish have done a great job in inhancing a very mature property. The flowers and grass areas are beautifull and every year a few new inhancements are added to the kitchen area and furniture. There is an area to mor the boat and improvements to the beach seating area including new furniture..
We are sorry the old friends who witnessed the Destiny go thru some sad times don't come back to enjoy the resort as it was in it's good days. Thanks Chris & Trish.

Since our introduction as Managers of Destiny four summers ago, our primary mandate has been to ensure that the property gives ‘sway’ to families such as yours in gaining a foothold towards what we call “connecting.” Destiny is all about families and couples.

While Destiny is an older property, we are cognizant of how important the continuous manicuring of its amenities are to our guests and appreciate you having touched on this topic.

Both Trish and I sincerely thank you for taking the time in posting your comments and truly look forward to your visit next year.

We stayed at Destiny Beach for Canada Day week. We were so pleased and surprised with how accommodating the management (Trish and Chris) were during our stay. They went out of their way numerous times to make our time there as personal and comfortable as possible... from setting us up a bonfire on the beach for Canada Day fireworks (and providing the wood for the fire), giving advice on the best places to wine tour, to giving us a jar of homemade raspberry jam! The resort itself feels like a throw back to the good old days. It's comfortable and safe for kids and also open with easy to access swimming in the pool or just hanging out on the beach and taking it easy. There is a dock and beach access where you can dock a boat, lay around on lounge chairs or hang out under a gazebo and have a BBQ. The small added touches like the raspberry batch, fresh herbs for guest use and "honour system" linens are what make the place truly nostalgic. We had a great time and will be sure to go back!!

Thank you for taking the time in posting your comments via this online portal. While we are cognizant that our little resort is an older property, we do what we can to ensure our guests find their stays both safe for children and relaxing for parents. We appreciate your comments regarding our availability of linens, it is our belief that your time here is your holiday and should you require fresh linens all you have to do is ask.

While on the topic of linens, it is our belief that having chamber persons exchange out bedding daily along with other linen items can at times, be rather obtrusive for our guests, save the environmental water impact required to wash and clean these items. Every summer our linen exchange program saves thousands of gallons of water dovetailed with pounds of laundry detergent.
Osoyoos Lake thanks you!

In closing, we are pleased that you had an enjoyable time and hope to see you again next summer (we'll hopefully have a fresh batch of jam ready).

We booked at short notice on line looking for a reasonably priced motel for one night as we made our way from Kelowna to Vancouver via Osoyoos. We wanted to visit Burrowing Owl and 'Nk'Mip wineries. It meet our expectations and the owners / hosts were very accommodating. Unfortunately, the weather in the area had been poor, summer was late and the lake was significantly higher than usual so there was no beach to relax on.

Thank you for taking the time in relaying your experience with us at Destiny Beach. We are glad to hear that you had an enjoyable time, even with Mother Nature filling Osoyoos Lake beyond capacity. Yes, summer was late in the Okanagan this year, save many parts of Western Canada. It is our hope (we love summer too) that should you travel out to the Southern Okanagan again, that the weather be warm and bright.

Everything was very clean and comfortable and the owners Chris and Trish were super friendly and hospitable. The accomodations are well maintained...and although they aren't new and modern, the rooms have everything you might need for a weekend getaway. The location is peaceful and so charming with a cozy beach front area for lounging and bbq. The heated outdoor pool is toasty warm which was great for us being that we were there in May. A big thanks to Chris and Trish for their warm welcome and for all you did for us during our 3 night stay. You were the best of hosts and you will for sure see us again!

Room Tip: Room #1 is closest to the lake and bbq area
