“Quite the history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

I drive past these ruins quite often on the way to Alexandria to visit friends. They built a little church behind it instead of redoing the roof of the building... you can even get married in front of the ruins. It does have a lot of charm, and is worth stopping by to take a look while exploring the area.

“I attended this church when I was a student at Iona in the 60-70's. I remember how beautiful and unique it was.”

I love seeing the ruins still standing, brings back many memories. Attended concerts there too, most enjoyable.

“Good photographic site”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2012

Clean grounds and clear sigth lines make this place a good location for photos, particularly of people whilst using the ruins as a backdrop.

built in 1821,destroyed by fire in 1974. the fire was so hot it melted the church bell which is just outside the church. only the walls remain standing. My son had his wedding shots done here and they are beautiful.

“Walk through time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2011

Magical place for a moment of relaxation, sit among the ruins to feel inner peace, go back into time of the first settlers to that region and imagine all those who walked the very same grounds that you now stand upon!.. A historical and educational journey through the ruins of St.Raphael's
