This cozy little tea shop is just a delight. They offer a vast selection of loose teas with interesting names such as Lover's Leap and Buckingham Palace Garden Party. Tea is served in beautiful china cups and comes with a strong recommendation to allow it to infuse for 5-6 minutes. If you are a tea purist, you are given the opportunity to sniff the loose tea before making a final selection. The food menu has a strongly British overtones. We always have a sandwich - not the great hulking North American variety but a rather more delicate offering on multi-grain bread. The egg sandwich (NOT egg salad, as the menu states) is simply thinly sliced hard boiled egg with fresh green cress and perked up with Heinz Salad Cream which takes all of us Brits on a nostalgic journey back to the sandwiches of our youth. The service is understated and courteous and repeat customers are treated almost as family. Not to be missed on a trip to Markham.
