Recently stayed at this Hilton for a family visit. I picked his hotel based on yelp reviews, and was not disappointed.
Location: nicely located near highway 7. if you know people who lives in Toronto, they'll tell you that's where most of the best Chinese restaurants are located. (Btw, Toronto is famous for its chinese food- many of the top chefs from Hong Kong moved here before the turnover in 1997... many people say the chinese food here is even better than HK or mainland china nowadays).
It's about 30 mins away from Toronto downtown with light traffic- not bad.
However, be warned that there's currently (as of July 2013) some reconstruction going on near highway 7- therefore causing more traffic jam than usual. I'm not sure how long that will last.
our room was on the 8th floor, and the bedroom had a nice panoramic view of the markham neighborhood. we could even see the CN tower during the day (most rooms facing the side of the main entrance has this view, be sure to ask for it (the side you seen on their cover picture)). We have a suite with king bed for ~110 canadian dollars/night (on a july weekend!), I felt it was a steal.
Decor: nice, clean and modern. Thoughtfully designed for comfort and privacy. our suite has a nice living area with TV, modern couches and a fridge/bar area, and these aer separated from the spacious bedroom by a short hallway where the bathroom is located. The bedroom has a spacious long counter with mirror, and also a walk-in closet with a nice make-up counter which I loved. I feel more hotels should have a make-up area separated from the bathroom like this Hilton... if you are married you'll know why it's important - saves a lot of quarrels between husbands and wives :).
Bed was super comfy... hubby and I slept like pigs.
Concierge service was great and professional. I called to ask for a salad bowl so I could wash fruits that I bought from outside... there was no question asked, the housekeeper showed up quickly, and totally didn't expect a tip (I had it ready in my hand, but he turned away before I had a chance to give it to him).
As of July 2013, the hotel is undergoing renovations in the lobby. I was forewarned when we checked in, and was told that the noise would likely happened in the morning. But i didn't hear anything during my stay. Maybe because we were on the 8th floor- so be sure to ask where the renovation is, and ask for a room as far away from it as possible.
know that they will charge you extra for parking (I think $10/night?). I don't know if it's common for Canadian hotels to charge extra for parking, but the other hotels I looked at in downtown charged a lot more per night, so factor that into your budget.
ask for the side where you can see the CN tower. Most suites on this side of the building has nice p...
