“Standards have dropped, may not be back!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

We have stayed here before and had a great experience. This time not so, our rooms were not ready when we checked-in at 3pm and had to wait an hour for our other room. When we did get both rooms we found that there were not enough towels, and even with repeated requests we didn't have enough for the six of us. My grandson noticed that the glasses hadn't been cleaned and the ice bucket still had water in it. The tv's in both rooms didn't work properly and were not repaired or replaced. When the beds were made up , pillows were missing and there was a general inconsistency between rooms. Internet was slower than dial-up and couldn't always get on. Will be looking at other hotels when we come top Vancouver, even though it is close to Ikea and between two major malls.

Room Tip: Some rooms have exterior entrances, need to ask for an inside room

Not at all like the picture on the web site. Picked it because of location and our need for an outdoor entrance with parking immediately outside of our door (other guests parked in from of our door so that was not convenient) Room could use some updating but overall not too bad. Very economical. Quests from neighboring rooms chose to stand in fromt of our window to smoke, did not appreciate listening to their conversations right outside of our room. Staff very friendly. Restaurant could also use some decorating, food was good and quick, nice waitress.

Checked in at 4:00 p.m.and got into the room 45 minutes later. Nasty chatter between housekeeping and front desk in language other than English although both spoke English. Pointed fingers at each other and housekeeper tettling us that reason the room was not made up was because the people have not checked out until 12:30. The next morning the clock on the dresser by the bed was an hour slow. We left the hotel for a planned engagement and when we returned the floor lamp was not plugged in the bed lamp was not plugged in; the t.v.had a faint glow to it; wash cloth missing; no idea how to turn off the fan on the heating and cooling unit. Bed comfortable enough. Just to much ado and childish bickering in front of us. My final stance was to say: "Just get in the room and clean it" in a loud voice. I also was told that because I had booked through a third party I could not get Wyndham rewards. Also on returning for the evening the second night the front desk was on the phone appeasing a quest who, by the sounds of the front desk was having a problem and being told by the woman she could do nothing about it and the people would have to speak to the front desk in the a.m. At the same time two males were checking in and had reserved two double beds. They were told there was none available but there was a room with a King. They turned that offer down and finally had to accept a two queen bed suite. Whether they got compensation I did not hear. I was, however, told that I could redeem points on my Wyndham rewards card (I have yet to check that but now I was at least getting rewards). I was again told that nothing could be done regard 'help' with my complaints and that I had to complain through the third party I had booked with. I did write to Hotel.com and have heard nothing. At 77 years old I am becoming a bit of a pain in the neck having served the public since I was fifteen. Some ot the staff needed to find another job on an assembly line in a factory.

Room Tip: Be aware and check your room before you take you luggage out and be prepared to get a bit riled up.

Where to start... Upon arriving we were met with difficulties, we ordered a room with two queens but instead were shown to a room with a single king. After relaying this to the front desk we were told that he didn't know if there were any other rooms available and that he'd get us cots to accommodate the four of us staying in the room.

He only brought us one cot and seemed very confused when we told him that we needed another. Then proclaimed that he'd be off to make that bed immediately and get it to our room. It seems that this hotel is only capable of sustaining a working populace of about 3-4 people at any given time making the wait for assistance a long and arduous process.

Another light issue with that room was that the television, an outdated CRT model would continually start and shut itself off.

On our way out the overly friendly and, quite honestly, fake front desk man told us, "I just thought of something!" he then proceeded to show us to a room with two queens, precisely what we were after. Again, to our dismay, we were informed that the television didn't work in this room either, at this point us believing the non fuctioning TVs a sort of metaphor for this awful excuse for a hotel.

Beds were hard, sheets dirty, and the bed I stayed in had a tear in the fabric. Room service didn't hit our room until about 6 pm, right when we were all sitting and relaxing after a long day.

Trolls restaurant provided good food, however, there was only ever one server working making the theme of this adventure, "hurry up and wait."

One other issue, we obtained a coupon for Trolls but were told it couldn't be applied to any particular bill that the entire table had to be combined. The very apologetic server seemed paranoid that someone would find out and fire him on the spot for making his customers happy, blaming the whole ordeal on the faceless and evil "new owner."

Overall this hotel was an awful experience that provided fake and shoddy service combined with outdated dirty rooms and staff unable to provide even the most basic levels of customer service. I advise you, nay, the world, to stay away from this establishment and hopefully allow it to fade into the ether, never to trouble the material world again.

Our family stayed at this hotel July 6, 2012. We booked this hotel online and chose it due to its location and space (2 bedrooms). The unit was definitely spacious and could easily accomodate our family of five. There was also a small kitchenette that was not expected but appreciated. The hotel is very 'dated' and could really use some renovations. We had a couple of issues that left a poor impression on us. First off, the tv in the living room area wasn't working properly. After five minutes of viewing, the sound remained but the picture was nothing but a bunch of rolling lines. We thought a quick call to the front desk could fix this. Unfortunatley, the gentleman on duty that night could not 'come up with an immediate (or three hours later) solution to our problem'. He wasn't sure what would cause the problem as the tv was recently replaced (pretty sure he met the cable box as this 24" CRT definitely wasn't new). While the hotel wasn't full, moving us to another room (or a different tv into ours) apparently wasn't an option. We had two bedrooms in our suite but also needed to use the pull out couch. It didn't exactly pull out in one motion and had to be pulled in a few directions to get it out. When it was out, the frame was curved and didn't sit flat on the floor. We just decided the simplest solution was to pull out the matress and sleep on the floor - not exactly the amenities we were paying for. We didn't use the swimming pool on this stop or eat in the restaurant so can't comment on that. When asked about our stay at check out, I let the young lady on duty know that things didn't go as smoothly as we had hoped. She was much more professional and apologetic than the man the evening before and did make a slight adjustment to our bill for the inconvenience. We were also told that the hotel manager would be following up with us within the next few days but we have never heard from him. Hopefully he's out fixing up his hotel.

My kids and I decided to stay at this hotel for a martial arts tournament.

* The whirlpool had a large amount of foam with green dirt floating on it from the walls.
* The rooms have a no smoking sign but people smoke right outside the room and it flows in through the vents whether you have the air/fan on or not. Either that or it comes in from the wnidow but either way it was not good as two of us are asthmatic.

When I complained to the front desk about the smoking right outside our rooms the next day she commented "Oh well, next time you should call down right away instead of mentioning it the next day". I even walked past a guy smoking cigars in the doorway of the room next door to ours, and on the other side there was a cigarette smoker outside the room so best of both worlds.

Do not stay at this hotel. The pool is filthy too. I will likely avoid Ramada's that are not in a major city going forward as I cannot imagine how the company doesn't care that their service, and especially cleanliness of the hotel (It obviously hadn't been cleaned properly in years!)

Room Tip: Stay at another hotel....
