“Great variety of food, great prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

I've been to Burgoo twice and each time was amazing. Their soups are delicious and portions are large. The pita and hummus appetizer is so tasty and their corn chowder was the best I'd ever had. the location and interior are perfect and the staff is the friendliest around. You won't be disapponted. The retaurant is very close to the aquabus terminal.

“Great place to go on a cold or rainy day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

Burgoo's menu of soups, stews and sandwiches are a great comfort on days when the weather is less than perfect. Their menu features food inspired by countries around the world, so there's a good variety of flavours to choose from. I've been very happy with every dish I've tried there.

Because of the quality of the food (and the location), the prices are more expensive than what you'd pay for in a typical soup and sandwich shop, but I think you get your money's worth. As many others have mentioned, it's a very popular place at lunch AND dinner, so try visiting in off-peak hours.

“Consistently good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

I've only been to the one at the foot of Lonsdale avenue in North Vancouver, and have enjoyed each meal I've had. I would call it comfort food. Well seasoned, interesting dishes and the wait staff are friendly and efficient. This is a nice place for lunch or dinner if you're visiting Lonsdale Quay.

“Cosy, homey food, great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

There are a number of "Burgoos" in Vancouver. This one is at the foot of Lonsdale Avenue, steps from Lonsdale Quai and the market. They are busy! The food is great -- home made soups and stews are their specialty.

My absolute favourite is their grilled cheese sandwich with winter salad. The sandwich (actually 2) is oozing with three kinds of cheese (old cheddar, gruyere and something else) and on fresh fabulous french bread. The salad has thinly sliced pear in it and delicious house dressing. Try the sticky toffee pudding for dessert.

If you go early or late you won't have to wait. There's a great table by the fireplace if you're lucky. The staff are friendly. The menu is interesting -- and the regional specialty soups, fondue, and sandwiches from around the world are all flagged for you on the menu. Burgoo is some kind of stew -- I'm sure it's delicious. Everything is there.

If you go, walk off some of your meal along the Quai. Great views of Burrard Inlet, south to downtown Vancouver. Parking can be a problem in this area -- on evenings and weekends you can park for free in the IBCB parkade one block away, adjacent to the Quai. The six-screen cinema (Esplanade) is also nearby.
