We returned to ThistleDown after a break of six years and, despite having very clear memories of what to expect, we were knocked-out (again) by the warmth, hospitality and kindness of our hosts. Rex and Liz (Ruth was travelling) just couldn't do enough for us and both are absolute fonts of knowledge on things to do, places to go, places to eat etc. in Greater Vancouver and, as we verified the following week, on Vancouver Island too.
Under the Apple Tree is still a great room for a getaway with someone special but my sister, who travelled with us, absolutely loved Mulberry Peek and we know other folk who say the same. But really, at ThistleDown, the room you take isn't overwhelmingly important - it's the innkeepers who make your stay special and the range of other guests you meet who make you think differently about stuff that combine to make it memorable.
