“Love this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2009

Just stayed again at this great hotel for about the 6th time in a year. Rooms always large, harbour view, spotlessly clean and every room different. Situated above the Lonsdale Quay Market, it offers a great variety of ethic markets, restaurants and shops.
Convenient parking on the lower level. Many good restaurants within a few blocks, including Gusto di Quattro right across the street. Sea Bus terminal to downtown Vancouver right next door. Friendly & helpful front desk clerks and complimentary internet in lobby. Hotel rooms and market overlook Vancouver harbour & city. I love this place!

We stayed here for just two nights, 23rd and 24th September. The front desk were exceptionally obliging, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was exceptionally clean, with all facilities we could have wished for, even free Internet connections. The market underneath the hotel has everything as far as food is concerned, a great Pub/Restaurant is the Cheshire Cheese - great food at very reasonable cost. The only downside is trying to find the market parking lot !! I raised this on the "Questionnaire Card" when we left the hotel, and much to my surprise, the hotel bothered to write to me at home ( not an E mail, but a proper letter !) apologising and promising to look into the matter. This counts for a lot as far as I am concerned. This is a highly recommended hotel - well done Lonsdale Quay.

We booked two rooms through Expedia for 4 nights.Total costs were CAD$1,078 which was cheaper than booking with the hotel direct and much cheaper than anything on offer in downtown Vancouver. We liked it for several reasons. The rooms were spacious and we had an ever changing view of a quay, tugs and various other sea faring facilities. Beds were comfortable with quality linen and pillows.
Staff were particularly friendly. Free access to a computer was available in reception area but regreatably it had no printer facility. This could only be achieved by sending or directing it to their front desk - consequently we did lose some docs because of being given an incorrect email address. This was eventually rectified. What makes this place such a find is its easy access to downtown Vancouver via the Seabus. Its located in a safe neighbourhood with underground parking at a special rate of CAD$7 a day. Furthermore the first two floors of the complex are a market with, inter alia , quality fast food stalls specialising in freshly made soups, shell fish, Thai and the more traditional burgers etc. The only drawback is the market closes at 7pm so one cannot linger nor drink alcohol with the meal. Not all is lost as within walking distance are a range of good quality restaurants and liquor store to suit all pockets. The nearby brew pub ales were a great disappointment!

We had the most horrible sleep all because of the pillows. They were old, so firm they crushed my ears, so dusty they triggered my husband's asthma (which has been dormant for years). And we booked the executive room purely on the fact that it has "luxury" bedding, according to the website.

The room itself is standard with just some aesthetic touches. The widescreen tv was nice, but no pay per view. The little balcony with a view of the Lions Gate Bridge was probably the best part. Ocean air is wonderful!

The room had a low-base throbbing hum, maybe due to the seabus underneath, but it was all night. We stayed pretty far toward the water, and we noticed it got worse as we walked down the long hallway to our room.

If you need to stay centrally in North Vancouver, the stay would be tolerable only if you bring your own pillows.

Please note, our pillows were all replaced Feb. 2008. Also, we do not use feather pillows and the pillows are non-allergenic.
Customer can contact us directly and let us know which room he was in, therefore we can inspect the pillows.

This hotel is beautiful! In addition to that, the location is fantastic. the hotel is situated right on the water, over a small indoor mall that has a farmers market during the summer.

My parents have used Expedia.ca on a regular basis to book their Lonsdale Quay reservations. On their most recent stay, the front desk assigned them to a hotel room which is known to be noisy. When they requested a room similar to one they have had in past visits, they were told, "You didn't book through our hotel's website, so you only get this noisy room. People who book through other websites get our less favourite rooms. If you want to stay in the quieter area of the hotel, you have to pay us an extra $40.00."

This is a new development with Lonsdale Quay Hotel.

The hotel assigns rooms based on category and availability. If you book on an "wholesale" site like Expedia/Travelocity, you are choosing a room that is "run of the house". Therefore, you are not guaranteed view or room type other than what you have booked, ie. Standard room. We recommend that guests book directly with us, as our form lets you indicate your preferences. The additional charge was due to the guest requesting a upgrade to a Jr. Suite. We do not have any issues with particular noisy rooms. Also, guest was not satisfied with room view. Please contact hotel for further questions.

When comparable rooms across the harbor are going for well over $200 per night, why would you stay anywhere else? I stayed here with my family in mid-July for three nights and we were very satisfied.

The market in which the hotel is located has everything you need - fresh fruits and vegetables, quality food options including booths, small cafes and more than one full-service restaurant. Plus some very nice stores to buy a few souvenirs for your friends back home.

Access to the Seabus is literally around the corner and a relatively quick 10-15 minute crossing across the harbor puts you within quick walking distance of Gas Town, Downtown and Canada Place. Add to the fact that you don't have to spend any time crossing the Lyons Gate Bridge to get to and from these points, and you're already saving an immense amount of time.

We spent most of our days in North Vancouver visiting with friends and exploring the more "natural" side of Vancouver with visits to Grouse Mountain and the Capilano Suspension Bridge. When we headed to Vancouver Island, we were just a short drive from the BC Ferry terminal at Horseshoe Bay instead of a traffic nightmare through the city to get to Tsawwassen.
