“Service was excellent.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012 via mobile

Our stay at this hotel was excellent. We were made welcome from the minute that we checked into the hotel. The room was very comfortable and clean.

The staff at the front desk were most helpful giving us directions around Vancouver by bus,sea bus and the train system.Public transport system is very easy to negotiate and we found using the day pass for $7 was inexpensive.

Rob and Yvonne Potts. Australia.

Perfect hotel for a one or two night stay while visiting North Vancouver or if you don't want to drive downtown and easy to find from the highway. The employee at the front desk was very helpful for giving us directions so we can plan the Lynn canyon's visit. We even got an upgrade from a king to a suite. The bed was very comfortable with a choice of pillows. There's a pub and a restaurant offering family casual food, nothing fancy but interesting when you don't want to go out again, good breakfast too(not included). Would be back if we're in the area.

I am from Brockville, Ontario and we planned a 2 week vacation in Vancouver. We were mainly there to attend my son's graduation from Vancouver Film School and to watch the first ever feature film (shown at Scotia Bank Theatre - downtown Van) created at the school which my son was the editor for. I booked our trip online and started out with the North Vancouver Hotel. However, when we pulled up to the place, we were sorely disappointed. The pictures online were definately not what it looked like in person. So I spent the night searching the net for another hotel in North Van (we wanted to stay out of the city this trip) and didn't come across this hotel until the wee hours of the morning. Everyone was still sleeping so I hopped in the car and drove directly to the Holiday Inn to check it out in person! I was SO relieved and happy when I walked in- THIS was more our style. We were very pleased with the service, especially from the Pantry Restaurant. There were 3 individuals who stood out to us, one was the host (can't remember his name - but he was amazing) and 2 of the servers, one was originally from Wales and the other had been working there for 13 yrs or something like that. Great, great people! I felt comfortable letting the girls wander around, to the pool, out in the courtyard, in the gym, etc... whereas at the other hotel it was dirty, questionable people hanging around outside and on an extremely busy road. I can't say one negative comment about this hotel. We stayed there for almost 2 weeks and got a very good rate. We will not stay anywhere else from now on when we visit our son in Vancouver! Thanks for making us feel so at home....we didn't want to leave :)

We stayed here for three nights as part of our vacation which included a Princess cruise from Seatlle and then a "road trip" into BC. Because of TRIPADVISOR reviews, we took the chance on this Holiday Inn, never expecting the wonderful property, amenities, location and best of all, PEOPLE who make this place better than many 4-star hotels in which we have stayed. First of all, the location is great...right off the highway, which gives easy access into Vancouver and ultimately the States, near so many things (a car is recommended but they'll tell you about public transpsortation) like Grouse Mountain and Lonsdale Quay (where you can get the SEABUS to Vancouver every 15 minutes). Seynmour's pub, the Pantry restaurant and Churchill's coffee/pub PLUS a wine&beer store and SPA are all on the property. We took advantage of all of them and they were exceptional. There's a lovely indoor pool and spa but we were so busy we didn't use them. Note: there is NOT a free breakfast here, but kids eat free 12 and under and the Pantry offers breakfast up through 2pm AND a Seniors menu.
Our room was HUGE, immaculate, wonderrful bed and with a mini-kitchen. Any need was attended to practically before we hung up the phone. Most of all, the people who work here seem to really love their jobs. DeBorah and Fazee (sp? sorry) were always so pleasant (we had contact with them the most) but everyone at the front desk and service area were wonderful. John Fritz owns and runs Churchill's where we found ourselves at the end of each day enjoying conversation and a brew or two. I hope we have the chance to visit BC again just to stay here! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I have stayed here for years and will continue to do so for years to come. The Hotel is always in tip top shape, it's easy to get to and from Vancouver and the rooms are always well appointed and spic and span clean. The Staff is so very friendly and always greet me by name when I arrive. The Lobby Bar - Churchills is run by one of the greatest Guy's you'd ever want to meet, Fritz. He is always there, takes great pride in ownership and is the most interesting person you'd ever want to meet. After a long day at work, the car is parked and it's to Seymour's Pub for dinner and drinks. A varied menu with a great staff make relaxing very easy, I never leave the Hotel once I get back there. The Pantry Restaurant is great for breakfast in the morning (pricey) but good and their menu is varied for lunch or dinner (again pricey), I have enjoyed room service on occasion and it's always great and delivered promptly. If you're traveling to the Lower Mainland of BC, I would recommend the Holiday Inn - North Shore very highly, it's easy to get to as mentioned across the Second Narrows Bridge. If you like to walk or jog it's got great trails around Mount Seymour (watch out for bears!) that offer great scenery and a workout. The Holiday Inn and it's great Staff are a real pleasure to come "home too" after a long day. The mini kitchens would be a plus for a Family with kids or Travellers that like to buy groceries and have a light meal in the room. There's a fridge, stove, dishes, etc., I use the fridge (beer & water), haven't done any cooking but could if I wanted to. You Gotta Stay Here!

Room Tip: I love the fact that you can open your window and "fill the room" with fresh, mountain/sea...

We visited just for one night this past week-end as we were attending a wedding in town. I was quite pleased with the hotel. Our room was a King Jr.Suite and we requested a rollaway which was easily accomodated in the room. The room itself was quite clean and included a king bed, pullout couch and little kitchenette. They also provide free wi-fi if you request. I have no complaints...comfy bed, clean room, nice bathroom. We ate in the lobby at the "pantry"...it was pricey but the food was also quite good! There are not a lot of food options nearby although we found a White Spot 1 mile down the road which served up a great breakfast. I would certainly return and recommend.

I ended up staying at this hotel for 2 nights because my favorite hotel on the north shore (Pinnacle at the Pier) was fully booked.

I wasn’t expecting much from this hotel, but it was better then I thought it would be. The furniture in the room was a bit ugly, but kept in very good condition. The room was very clean and the housekeeping staff does a great job maintaining the rooms. The hotel is very well maintained and clean.

I booked this room using my Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) membership card, and saved quite a bit of money.

I like the free parking and lower room rates at this hotel.

There is a restaurant and bar located in the hotel, and a corner store across the street if your feeling hungry. If you don’t mind driving for a few minutes (quite literally, 3 to 4 minutes away), there are restaurants, a movie theater, and groceries stores nearby.

The hotel staff work really hard at making sure the guests are happy and feel welcomed. I was really impressed by them.

If you don’t mind the ugly furniture, this is a great hotel with good value. This hotel is not as fancy as the #1 hotel in North Vancouver, but you save more money here. When you factor the free parking and lower room rates, you get good value for what you’re paying for. If your not picky about waterfront views, modern furniture, or lots of things to do within walking distance. This is a great value hotel for those who want to save money, but wish to stay in a clean and friendly hotel.
