“Eye of the wind Spectacular!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

We planned two days at the end of an Alaskan cruise to see some of Vancover! While we enjoyed Stanley park, the absolute highlight was Grouse Mountain!! Thanks to locals who suggested this trip!! We traveled by bus with the help of friendly bus drivers who always advised us of the stop and transfer we needed to arrive at our destination! The sky ride itself was beautiful, but the REAL treat was the Eye of the Wind tour that took us up the chair lift , then up the elevator within the powerful wind turbine to the observatory that surrounds the base of this powerful generator. The tour director provided lots of information, and we could see 5 mountain ranges , and marvel at the spectacular views! Of course it was an extra treat to see the grizzly habitat beneath us as we traveled back down the mountain side. A REAL ONCE in a LIFETIME treat!! It was money well spent! I suggest at least three hours to see some of the other events which we missed due to the late hour, and bring a jacket since it is quite cool on the lift.

“touristy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

This is a popular spot, offering some great views of the surrounding areas. The attraction includes, wood carvings, which are impressive,a restaurant with an outdoor seating area and various attraction such as a bird, show, lumberjack show ,etc. The shows are just that shows with the corny dialogue, etc. The bird show is more attuned to exhibiting the birds.
The gondola ride up and be very crowded during the peak times such as right after the shows end for the day. Most people on the gondola ride will not have a decent view of the landscape.
If you have extra time to kill or younger children who will be excited by the show, this may be a place to go. I would not put it on a list of must do's There is a walk between the show venues and the shows are uncovered(sunny)

“Do the Grouse Grind!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

In September, my boyfriend went to Grouse Mountain to do the Grouse Grind (meaning, hike up the mountain rather than taking the gondola).
What a GREAT experience, which I'd recommend to anyone.

Super convenient FREE shuttle from the downtown Vancouver.
(You can even ask the shuttle driver to drop you at Capilano Suspension Bridge on the way back, if you wish - again FREE of charge).

For those who drive, seemed like plenty of parking there.

Climbing up is free, but if you want a Grind Timing device, there's a small fee for that. Great deal if you're interested, so you can be counted on their website and show off your stats for the other Grind enthusiasts.

The hike/climb up is challenging, but doable for people who have a level of fitness. Even if you're just an avid walker, you can probably do this. Be aware, there is lots and lots of uneven areas (in fact, that's mostly what it is), and it's a very steep, 3K climb. Take your time and you can enjoy the exercise!

At the top, we enjoyed seeing the bears Koola and Grinder. Cool to learn a few things about bears too.

We watched the lumberjack show, which was mostly good, until a bit at the end left a bit of a sour taste in our mouths. It would have been quite entertaining without that part. Still, kind of fun to learn some lumberjack trivia.

Had lunch there (veggie burger, fries and a pop) which was fine. Prices are a tad steep, but I'd expect that. It was very nice of them to have veggie options for the herbivores in the crowd. Thanks for that.

You can't walk down the mountain, you must take the gondola for safety concerns. There is a fee for this, but it was reasonable (I think).

Great views from the top of the mountain. If you can't hike up, don't dismiss it. Get up there and smell the fresh mountain air and enjoy the vista. It's really a great one.

Thanks to the Grouse Mountain folks for maintaining such a challenging terrain to make it possible to explore the mountain and the top of it.

“Adventure for Everyone”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

Second trip Up The Mountain. We did this 3yrs ago and loved it. In our 70's and independent travellers, thought we'd go up the mountain again. We paid the basic price and enjoyed the free things to do, Lumberjack Show (excellent), Bird Exhibit had a Beaver Tail again, sat in the sun & watched the tourist on the chair lift. It's a great day out, if it's cool when you head out, it's going to be cold up there, so dress warm.

“Breaktaking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

Got taken here by a local friend to end out roadtrip out west and was not disappointed. The $40 ticket to take the cable car up seemed steep at the time, but once we were on top of the world, above the trees, and seeing that view made it all worth it.

We didn't have enough time to attempt the Grind, but we saw several nature shows at the top at the resort. Will definitely come back to attempt (and conquer!) the GRIND.
