“What a View!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

As soon as I saw the picture of the tram traveling up the side of the mountain I knew I had to take this ride! We didn't get the great views we'd hope for because it was drizzling and foggy that morning, but it was still worth the time and money. At the top of the tram is a chalet that houses a nice, upscale restaurant, other food vendors, educational theater, and some shopping. On the mountain itself, you'll pass several neat, large wood carvings on your way to the Lumberjack Show and don't forget to check out the 2 grizzly bears they keep in a large wired area. When we were there, one was sleeping, but the other one laid on his back playing with a small tree branch really hamming it up for the crowd! There's also free hiking, zip lining, riding a chairlift and even tandem paragliding, but you'll have to check out pricing since we didn't partake of those activities due to the weather. This is one of the finest places to really see Vancouver and the surrounding area without flying over it, that is, unless you decide to go paragliding or take a helicopter ride. We really enjoyed it.

“What a view!”

The Skyride, for those who aren't ready to tackle the famous Grouse Grind, is a wonderful way to see all of Vancouver from the North Shore all the way to the Fraser River Delta.

“Don't miss it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

We took the free shuttle bus from Canada Place (right beside where the cruise ships dock) and enjoyed a lovely 15-20 minute motor coach ride to Grouse Mountain. It was a great way to see the city and hits much nicer parts of the city than the Hop On Hop Off Bus!

We bought the Alpine Experience tickets at the entrance to the Skyride for 39.95 CAD plus tax. We had tried to buy tickets at the kiosk at Canada Place, but they would only sell you the more expensive Peak Experience and Ultimate Experience tickets. I knew I didn't want to go on the Ski Lift or go up the Wind turbine, so held out for the cheaper ticket. The Alpine Experience ticket gives you the SkyRide (gondola ride) and access to all the activities and shows. We visited the Grizzly Bears and saw the Birds In Motion demonstration (bald eagles, peregrine falcons, horned owl, Harris falcon and turkey vulture). There was also a lumberjack show and other things to see - including awesome views of Vancouver and the Lionsgate Bridge. We then took the gondola back down and the free shuttle returned us to Canada Place.

Having just come off a cruise ship, I think this represented much better value for money than any of the cruise line tours I had taken.

Also, I am a self confessed scaredy cat and took a bit of persuading, but I am really glad I took this trip. I enjoyed it immensely!

We went in early June and there was still snow at the top of the mountain, so go prepared for chilly weather.

“Trip to the top of the mountain.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

I don't particularly like heights, but this ride was very nice. It was great to look out over the bay and see the lake below in the trees. The ride is smooth up to the top and very gentle on the way down.
Certainly gives you a different view of Vancouver.
