“Chinatown Restaurant Street”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

We were "in transit" between a cruise to Alaska and a land tour of the Rockies. LaQuinta was great because it was most convenient for getting picked up at the local mall for the tour, we could take SkyTrain downtown to the cruise port, and the hotel offers complimentary shuttle to airport.
But we really chose the hotel so we could be right on the Chinatown Restaurant Street. After a cruise you wouldn't think we'd have an appetite, but then this is the best Chinese food in the world (and I come from San Francisco and my wife from Hong Kong!). The hotel is quite clean, you hear an occasional airplane overhead, and the young staff is energetic, friendly and helpful.

We stayed for one night before leaving for an early flight. The front desk staff were very helpful and accommodating. This hotel is unbelievably clean! The rooms, common areas, and pool area are all spotless. Beds were very comfortable and an overall very pleasant experience.

We were only here for one night to catch a flight out the next morning. I would likely not stay here for an extended Vancouver visit but it was good for what we needed. The front staff recommended a restaurant nearby that was really good. It is in the heart of Chinatown so great oriental food nearby.

Our family has stayed at this hotel on five separate occasions for a few days each time. We originally chose the hotel because of (a) it is pet friendly and (b) conveniently located for shopping and dining. The rooms are spacious, very well maintained by great housekeepers, and a mini fridge and coffee machine are standard. The free wireless internet performs very well and parking is free as well. The hot breakfast buffet is a nice touch and included in the room rate.
As a quiet base for business or pleasure, this hotel suits us very well as we always travel with our small dog.

Room Tip: Fifth floor has exit to rooftop garden which is great for viewing arriving / departing flights at Va...

We stayed here for a couple of nights after flying in from Alaska and then picking up our rental car from the airport on departure. The shuttle was just dropping off people as we arrived at the side walk so we hopped right in and got to our room in record time. Similar service was provided on returning to the airport, we just booked it in the night before so we were confident of our timing.

The hotel is very clean, tidy and well equipped for the transiting visitor. Breakfast was pretty busy in the morning as there were around 2-3 bus loads of Asian visitors heading off somewhere at the same time so trying to get something to eat was a bit of a wait. There is a cute little pool and spa for those who have the trunks packed and the location is excellent for some local cheap eats.

The skytrain stop is around a 10min walk (beside a large shopping mall) and gets you access to the city. We headed into downtown to catch a sea plane to whistler for the day without any hassles and it was very cheap.

All in all we had no complaints at all. For a non asian meal in the evening one might struggle for choices, we were unfamiliar with the area so settled for a local Chinese hot-pot :)

The hotel is quite tidy and is near the airport. Free shuttle bus to the hotel is available. You can either ask at the information service counter at the airport, or call the hotel at the bus stop.

There are lots of restaurants (Chinese) outside, so dinner is not a problem.

Good for early flight.

The choice of breakfast is however quite limited.

My husband and I have always stayed at this hotel when flying out of Vancouver. The hotel is clean, a pretty good location and has a decent breakfast.
The only problems we have encountered are regarding their shuttle service. One time when we stayed at both ends of our trip, the shuttle driver didn't show up for the shift and we waited and waited, of course not knowing that. When we called we were told to cab it and the hotel paid for it.
We just flew in on Friday at 10pm and fully expected the shuttle to show up. Nope. They have cut their shuttle service to 9:30pm each night. Very disappointing. We ended up using another shuttle and walking to the hotel. It would have been nice to be told their schedule had changed.
The shuttle service is a big part of why we choose a hotel; and since most of our flights come in later at night, we will no longer be able to use this property.
My impression was that other people were waiting for the same shuttle and called the hotel, so they can expect some customers to not return. We won't.
