“Good hotel close to the airport”

This hotel is convenient to the Vancouver airport; about 10 minutes away. We stayed here for two nights before a major vacation and then again for one night after. The hotel has been renovated and has modern furniture and bathrooms. The only criticism we have is that the flat screen TV is quite small. Our room had a king size bed, with a comfy couch, a leather ottoman, desk, and TV. Each room has a balcony. Ours faced the airport with a view of the ocean and the mountains. It had a small table and two chairs and we sat out when it was warm out. The room had robes, which is always appreciated. Given that the hotel is so close to the airport and the highway, there is very little noise in the room. The hotel has a Chop House, Sharks lounge and Denny's on site. Nearby are an IHOP and Moxies. Hotel rates are less expensive on the weekends and more expensive weekdays. We were able to leave our vehicle onsite while we went on our vacation for $5 for 7 nights, which was a deal! The airport shuttle runs every 30 minutes and stops at the Arrivals area at the airport. There's a number of pools, hot tub and fitness room. Guests are also allowed to use the Steve Nash tennis club facilities. Air Canada staff and lots of Asian tourists stay here. We'll stay here again when we travel from YVR.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher level room with a view. Ask for a room that does not directly face the highway.

When we arrived at about 5pm, I was told that only one of the two reserved rooms was ready because the other one was still being occupied by the previous traveler. I asked when I could expect the room but the lady did not answer the question or did not know the answer. What made matter worse was that no one apologized for the situation or even provided further help. The hotel staff just made it like something we had to deal with even though it was well past the stated check-in time.

We reluctantly checked in for the one room. The room was nice and had a good view. It was a little old but still comfortable. However, the internet did not work in that particular room. I asked the front desk about the internet and was told that it was because the hotel was full and internet was just slow. We finally got the other room at around 7pm. The internet worked in that room so I wasn't sure why it would not work in the other room. For the next three days we stayed at the hotel, we did not have internet in one of the rooms. I was just glad that the trip was not for business or something where internet is essential.

The beds were comfortable, the rooms all updated, flatscreen tv's, FURNISHED balconies. Our room had a view of the planes landing in the distance and we could see the flashing lights faintly of one of the runways, and gorgeous mountain views on the other side. I requested a higher view and they accomodated no problem. The waterslide is FUN. And although it says they close it at 9, our youth ball team didn't get back to the hotel until 8:30 either night of our stay and it was still on for us well past 9. I don't know if they saw that we had just gotten to the pool or if they keep in on a bit longer when busy, but it was a nice surprise for the team that it was still on later. The indoor pool is nice, the hot tub hot, and there are two heated outdoor pools. The hotel is HUGE and has mulitple branches. On rainy days you can access Denny's and other restaurants through indoor walkways. There is an indoor tennis court and gym. Breakfast isn't included but there is a Denny's and an IHOP. It would've been nice to have a fridge. Some rooms do so I think you can request one. Also we weren't able to get a team rate. Our coach called and the manager hadn't called her back. Most of our team stayed there friday night and all of them Saturday so it would've been nice to get a team rate like other hotels do. All in all our stay was very good and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again in the future. Did I say that the waterslide is FUN? It's a large one, not small like some hotels. We travelled with teens and they LOVED it.

Room Tip: Rooms facing West have an airport and mountain view. Ask for one up high in the Columbia tower.

I don't know if it's always this bad, but my experience here was awful. The roof was leaking in the hallways in the dead of summer, with buckets set up to catch drips. My room was poorly cleaned and the air conditioning had been turned off, leaving the temperature inside close to 30 degrees Celsius. I left for several hours after turning it up to maximum and found the temperature still oppressive; it took several more hours to get down to a habitable level. Overall, highly disappointing.

My husband and I flew from Hong Kong, never having been to Vancouver before, a friend suggested this hotel for ease of access to the airport. We caught the shuttle from the airport to the hotel. Checked in by friendly efficient staff, who offerred advice on what we could do if we wanted to get about on public transport and what to see in the limited time we had. Our room was spacious AND THE BEDS! So comfortable and the sheets very soft..we tossed up about just staying in and get over the flight. But seeing some of Vancouver before sleep was very enticing. Shuttle took us back to airport, we caught the train into the Waterfront, walked a while, and did the trip in reverse. We slept so well,no aircraft noise - amazing, we booked in again for another night to do more sightseeing. Purchased a day pass on the train and with the shuttle bus all worked well. We flew out to Anchorage on our third day and were returning to Vancouver for a day or two at the end of our 7 night cruise. We felt like we were coming home, being welcomed by the staff - each shift different people but all with the same can do, welcoming attitude. Were to stay one night, we stayed two to be well rested for our return flight to Hong Kong. We liked the coffee maker and the ground coffee that was supplied was very good. I got to have coffee in bed each morning.

Needed a hotel close to the airport and choose this one. We arrived late and found nice big rooms with a good view of the city. We were even offered a complimentary drink at the local sports pub, the place also featured a restaurant that was open until 02 the free airport shuutle service started at 04 and ran with 15 min interval at peak hours. Good value for money

It's my first time to experience such terrible situation for a 3.5 rated hotel.
there is no micro-wave, no refrigrator, and we were arranged to a distant room far away from lobby where they declared they can provide such facility, AND, there is a quite noisy vending machine beside our room(a broken one since we found other vending machine don't make that kind of noise at all), AND, the room is quite old, the door has a obviously big crack around the lock, don't know what happened to this room in the before. We felt big discrimination for the arrangement and unhelpful clerk from front-desk. They can't move room for me, they were even told me microwave is not a problem, then told me they don't provide microwave at all when I call them again and ask when I can get it.
We booked for two nights, but we just can't stay for a single night at all since my son was crying for the noise and my wife is crazy about the terrible experience of this so called ' luxury hotel'.
tried to call the direct line number listed on the website, just get a voice mail message, left voice mail and get no returned call. called again to their front-desk. the so called manager Jonathan was rude and don't even want to listen why I leave. Felt big discrimination just because I booked it through hotwire for a cheaper price, still not cheap for the room& service.

Stay away from them!
