“Excellent hotel with good service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2012

Spacious room with many upgraded amenities including IPhone station, single serve coffee pot, etc. The underground parking is a little bit confused at first, but we were able to figure it out quickly. The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful to answer our questions. I will definitely stay at this hotel again next time in Vancouver.

We stayed here in June 2012 during our trip to Vancouver and were very impressed with the quality of the room. We loved the comfortable beds, gorgeous washrooms with the best hotel towels you'll ever use.
I appreciated the eco-friendliness of the hotel (i.e. you need your key to turn on the light which automatically turns off when you're away) and especially the proximity to the sky train which I used to get in and out of the city quickly. It's super close to the airport which was a bonus after flying in late at night and there were lots of delicious dining options around. Note, if you love chinese/asian cuisine - Richmond, BC is the place for you!!

However, a few things we weren't quite warned about....
A) During the summer the Richmond Night Market is open to the public and draws literally hundreds of people every night. SInce it's held just adjacent to the hotel (about a 5 minute walk) it means that on nights that the Market is open, the traffic around the hotel is a nightmare within a 1km radius. Not realizing what was going on after returning to the hotel after dinner one night, it took us about 40 minutes to get from the main street (Bridgeport/No 3rd Rd) into the parking lot under the hotel. This normally should only take 5 minutes. Although there were several traffic controllers directing pedestrians and cars, this unforeseen delay was definitely one of the reasons why I'd re-consider staying here again next time.

B) There are parts of the hotel that are still being done (i.e. the lobby), which is understandable, but the parking situation left a lot to be desired. Be warned that the underground parking spots are small and not exactly located conveniently for those who have multiple luggages to tote to their cars. After weaving in and out of cars, we were able to find the exit, up the ramp, go outside to the hotel entrance, then enter the hotel lobby to find the elevators.

Overall, I'd still recommend this place to travellers looking for a place outside of downtown and somewhere close to the airport. It's beautiful amenities, comfortable rooms and proximity to the sky train make it worth the stay, but just some traffic situations to consider so that you can hopefully plan around them.

We booked the Hotel at River Rock mainly for it's location right at the skytrain station, and also because they had a breakfast package.
The rest was just an added bonus and we were pleasantly surprised with everything. The hotel itself is very nice, new and modern. We had a huge king sized bed, which was sooooo comfortable. The bathroom was very spacious, had TWO hooks on the bathroom door for towels and the shower was amazing.
You have access to all of the amenities across the way at the River Rock resort, the pool is big, had a water slide and a big jacuzzi. It is open until midnight as well which is hard to beat. It was pretty crowded with children later in the night but, I can't really complain.
Many different places to eat, and room service ran for twenty-four hours!
The service was great, we were constantly greeted and told to have a nice day. We were surprised with the bell-hop service as well.
Will recommend it to my friends and will return as well.

Very clean, comfortable, modern and luxurious. The bed provided delightful sleep. The hotel's close proximity to the airport makes it a good choice if you need an overnight stay - $12 cab ride. The breakfast buffet at the casino was good and reasonably priced.

I stayed for business at the Hotel at the River Rock and was pleased with all aspects of the hotel. The hotel has outstanding service, is well located near the airport and rapid transit to either the airport or downtown Vancouver. The rooms were very modern, clean and well appointed. My only complaint was the lack of local newspaper boxes or availability before eight oclock, when the newstand opened. I would reccomend this hotel!

The Hotel at River Rock is not to be confused with the Resort at River Rock. The Hotel opened in October 2011, whereas the Resort has been open for several years. I stayed at the Hotel this past weekend for one night. Upon check-in, the front desk agent explained that the rooms in the Hotel were smaller than those found in the Resort as this property was meant to cater to business travellers taking advantage of the proximity to the airport, and the adjacent Canada Line station. Despite this, we found the room to be a good size with and didnt feel like a bare bones business hotel. The room has a nicely appointed bathroom with a deep soaker tub. Coffee and tea is provided in room via a personal sized Nespresso machine. A flat screen TV is a nice touch as are the modern Bang and Olufsen phones. All guest services info is viewable on the TV as are menus of all the restarants and lounges.

Where this hotel falls down is the construction and sound proofing. For whatever reason, the sound insulation is pretty poor and we kept hearing people from above dropping things on the ground. Noise from the hallway was also unusually audible and we heard a lot of doors opening and cloding. The bathroom door had a pretty bad squeak, too, and the toilet in the washroom kept flushing on its own. Also, though this is not the fault of the hotel, we were awakened at about 2 am by a very drunk guest and he party who were pounding on thedoors and yelling and crying...

Overall this hotel has a great location for accessing transit and the airport via the Canada Line. All the amenities of the Resort are extended to Hotel guests so this is welcome as the Hotel property itself has no gym or pool. I would recommend this hotel if someone wanted to be close to the airport for a short stay, or had to be in Richmond moreso than in Vancouver during their visit.
