“Enjoyed the tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

Though I live in the Vancouver area I had never been to Steveston before. Our visit to the shipyard was very enjoyable, and our guide very knowledgeable.

Great little walk through history. Bring a camera!! The exhibits are very well done, beautiful, and interesting. Even kept young hyper children's attention! Well done.

When they get this place fully open with guides it will be even further amazing. Loved that you could just walk around and learn at your own pace. Price was perfect - donation! and no charge for parking!!!

“Not a bad trip”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

Kids went for a school field trip. They enjoyed it but I would not go out of my way if you were from out of town. If you found yourself near definately go, but don't try to maneuver through the city for this one.

“The Great BC Wooden Fishing Boat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2012

The Shipyard is really a very large workshop over 150 years old at the mouth of one of B.C.'s greatest rivers, The Fraser. Wooden fishboats and powerboats have been built and refurbished here by generations of craftsmen, and that work continues today. On display are original tools and equipment dating back to the turn of the 19th century. Take a stroll along the Heritage Village of which the Shipyard is a part, and see how Japanese fishermen lived before they were interned in the 2nd World War. The scenic stroll along the Fraser continues toward the village of Steveston with explanatory plaques dealing with life at the fish canneries that used to line the river.
