“So friendly!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2012

We were so impressed with the friendly and helpful reception staff when we registered. I've never before had a call from the front desk asking if we had everything we needed. Staff arrived immediately to activate the safe and replace a t.v. remote. The room was clean, quiet, comfortable and was fairly spacious for 3 people and their suitcases. The only flaw was that the carpet could have been replaced. The hotel is in a great location for the Vancouver airport (it has a free shuttle) and the Skytrain. It is also very close to some Asian malls with food courts that serve very tasty, reasonably priced and diverse food. Close at hand there are also some Asian grocery stores for snacks and travel treats and two large malls were within walking distance. It will be our airport hotel of choice in the future.

The Hotel is close to the Vancouver Airport. A free shuttle ( on phone request ) is picking you up at the arrival hall of the Vancouver Airport.
Breakfirst and Concierge Service were excellent. The rooms quite and clean. If you look for a stopover hotel, this is a good choice.

Richmond is a small town close to the airport. 70% of the population are asian emigrants. Therefore the hotel has many asian guests.

Thee Radisson Airport is just a 5 minute shuttle ride from Vancouver Airport. The hotel is situated in Richmond, which is a distance from downtown Vancouver, but the "Canada Line" train runs right beside the hotel (and can be heard on the lower floors...squeaky wheels) Rooms are very spacious and clean. As I was on a timezone shifting layover I utlized roomservioe and my standard test hamburger was quite satisfactory.

The lobby has a restaurant and bar which I have used on past visits. For those who like Asian cuisine, Richmond has many Chinese/Thai restaurants in walking distance, and the seafood mecca of Steveston is a cab ride away and well worth the visit if you have a longer stay than I have currently.

Room Tip: The 11th floor is the Executive floor and is very quiet.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2012

Stayed here mid-April 2012
4 rooms in total - paid $100 to upgrade one room to the Apt suite (for its kitchen and washer/dryer)

+ Close to airport (we drove there though, didn't use the shuttle)
+ Free parking in front (if you can find a spot)
+ Next to T&T and Presidential Plaza (although they close early, T&T closes 9:30pm)
+ Hotel looks modern (but that's it)
+ Hold our luggages next day for almost 12 hours, that's nice of them
+ OK breakfast
+ Apt suite is pretty good (kitchen, dining table, living room sofa, separate bedroom with LCD TV), if the small details are fixed/cleaned

- I'm Radisson Club Carlson SILVER, but got no free upgrade (says hotel was full but I'm not sure, and cannot upgrade me "free" to any suite, or the Apt suite). Boo

- Check-in took forever, especially when I had to go park my car and come back to find 30+ China Airline attendents at check-in @@
- No luggage assistance from Bellman (we were spoiled by 5* hotels I guess)
- No utensils or much plates in the Kitchen, no detergent for Washer, good thing we brought our own
- Carpet was dirty in my Apt suite, so be careful
- Charges $6 for big water bottle, free for small water bottle

The big ones I dislike, and won't recommend this hotel
- In a room, the chair "snapped" and they just sent someone up to replace it with a new one, no apologies or whatsoever
- Same room, there was a half-drank water bottle beside the $6 water bottle. EWW...
- In the other 3 rooms, there's no free small water bottles. so I'm not sure what's the standard anymore
- I booked two breakfast-for-4-persons package, only to learn that it means $70 credit in total for 8 persons... while breakfast buffet is $15... 2-person breakfast means $23 credit/room (vs. $35/room for 4-person)... breakfast lady was nice to not charge us for 5 adults though
- SleepNumber beds don't really work, or broken (I never understand this part of Radisson, where SleepNumber beds cause more issues than regular beds; just get better beds already)
- I walked by the hallway and saw a lady with cart of water bottles and asked nicely if I can have one, she just said "no", and nothing else. That was a bad insult with no explaination and I'll buy my water elsewhere, and my business
- Radisson 4-person breakfast package was $134 for 1 room and $174 for 2nd room for no reason, I've email'ed them to clarify. I'm sure I booked both for $134...but 2nd room rate kept going up

If you can find other hotels around same price, go ahead. Like Westin
If you just need a sleep and rate is good, it's fine to stay here

On the bonus side, this stay made our next 2 night stays at Sutton Place downtown like a dream because EVERYTHING was better (or felt better) there, for almost the same rate

Room Tip: Probably stay away from the Canada Line side to avoid noise

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your comments and also for contacting the Hotel for clarification on some of the issues you experienced during your stay. We hope we have answered your questions. Although we hope every guest has a perfect stay, we are happy to rectify any issues that arise when you let us know during your stay. On one minor note, the bottle of water for sale in the guest room is a 1 litre bottle of water for $4. Thank you for staying with us and we hope you will give us an opportunity to redeem ourselves in the future .

The hotel is s 5-minute shuttle bus ride from the hotel. The shuttle van needs new shocks, and the driver who picked us up seemed to aim for every bump in the road. The return trip in the same vehicle, with a different driver, was much easier on my back.

The hotel itself is reasonable. Staff at check-in were friendly and efficient. The rooms have been renovated but some of the older remnants of the hotel remain such as the narrow halls, low ceilings, and older bathtubs. Some of the small details have been overlooked such as the inaccurate drywall work around the bathroom vent, but that is more of an idle observation made while washing my hair. Internet access was free but slow from time-to-time.

The hotel is also just a few steps from the Aberdeen train station so zipping downtown for dinner with friends was a breeze.

If you are looking for a clean, convenient hotel near the Vancouver Airport consider this property.

We booked our 4 night stay (March 29-April 1, 2012) thru the internet. The internet print out clearly stated upon check in we can upgrade our room from $10. When we asked for the possibility of room upgrade upon check in, we were told by the front desk clerk first that the room upgrade is only good for pre booking. When we pointed out it is clearly stated in the booking confirmation print out that said ". . .upon check in. . .", she then talked to her supervisor and came back to tell us that yes, we can have a room upgrade but at $25 per night, not $10. When we pointed out to her that the print out said that its $10, not $25. Her supervisor came out to say "its STARTING from $10." So we said ok, give us a room then with a $10 upgrade. Knowing the clean reputation of Radisson, we were shocked when the supervisor then said the "lowest upgrade cost $25, not $10." So, when we asked where is the $10 upgrade coz the print out clearly said room upgrade starting from $10? He answered without any hesitation: "There is no $10 room upgrade, the lowest room upgrade is $25." If this is not misrepresentation or misleading at the very least, what is it then? Needless to say, we were all very disappointed that a big hotel chain like Radisson is also practicing misleading ads. As for the room facility, our towels smell of cigarettes and the room acoustics needs to be fixed coz it was noisy everytime there is a plane landing or taking off. The rest of the facility is ok and the hotel location is also ok.

Before staying here ,I read some poor reviews about this hotel so i was a little worried. But after staying here I have nothing but good things to say .
I went to Vancouver with my 8 year old son to catch the Canucks final regular season game {and Presidents trophy WIN} . I found the access and parking for the hotel to be very easy and well marked . The staff was very informative and friendly at check-in . The room was clean, modern, and the beds were very very comfortable .
Upon leaving for the game {in our team colours} , and returning after , the staff greeted us cheering , my son then turned to me and said "these people are great dad , we should stay here next time too" .
Our sleep than night was good . We each had our own sleep number bed , which we had fun adjusting and experimenting with . This hotel is near the approach to the airport, so there is plane noise ......but it is not excessive. It is located next to a busy road , so there is car noise .......but it is not excessive . In fact, this is probably one of the quietest airport hotels i've ever stayed at , and it is a half block from the skytrain station for easy /fast access to downtown .
We will stay here again , and i recommend it to all.........except habitual whiney negative people, with sleep issues.

Room Tip: west facing rooms dont get morning sun.
