“Lovely hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2009

We stayed at this property for only one night. We got a great deal at $129 per night--we belong to the 'Fairmont Club'. The location was about 25 min. from downtown Vancouver. The hotel was easy to find--just follow the 'airport' signs. Parking was a bit of a problem, though. We chose not to use the valet parking ($25) and used the economy self-parking lot at the airport ($15 per day). The self-parking lot was good--but it is a bit of a trek to get to it. One actually has to walk across a few lanes of traffic and through some trees!

Views from the floor-to-ceiling windows were great! It was very fun to watch the planes take-off and land. And, there was no noise!

The room was absolutely lovely. Super clean. Well-laid out. A lot larger than expected. We had a smoking room--one could definitely smell the remnants of lingering smoke. But, the bathroom was really great. Separate toilet. Stand-alone shower. Jazuzzi tub.

Overall, it was a great stay, and we would stay there again! (Especially if were catching a flight!)

Debated whether to stay here or at one of the other nearby airport hotels but am so glad opted for the Fairmont. What a great concept-unbelievably convenient to take the elevator from your hotel down to the terminal. Why hasn't someone thought of this before? Rooms were spacious, very clean, extremely comfortable and with lots of gee!whiz! gadgetry(eg you can control all lights,do not disturb sign, etc from touch pad by your bed). Room was quiet-only rarely noticed plane noise. Had room service and it was very prompt. Kids get cookies and milk delivered by room service the first day of their stay. Only criticism(and it is minor) is that bathroom has louvered door and shuttered "window" where tub looks out over room. This means you hear bathroom noise-could be bothersome if roommate showers while you are trying to sleep, etc. Overall though this place is a must stay!!!

I chose this hotel for our last night in Canada as we had an early-morning flight and I wanted to avoid the hassle of getting out to the airport from the city first thing, thereby gaining a little more sleep before the long flight back to France.
From the minute our cab pulled up outside the hotel to our departure early the next morning, this was a particularly hassle-free experience.
The incredible staff, the sheer peace and calm of the hotel (despite the huge jets taking off outside), the comfort of the huge room and the excellent restaurant left my son and I totally refreshed and ready for the trip home.
I was particuarly impressed with the Fairmont web-site and the ease of communication with the hotel (I was able to make a reservation for dinner via the site and received confirmation within minutes).
The gym is of a good size and very well equipped, the pool's adjustable current allows swimmers to make good use of the small space available and the sauna is good and hot.
Food in the Global restaurant was excellent with intelligent use of local ingredients.
Since our room was not ready when we checked in, we were instantly upgraded to the gold floor which was a very pleasant surprise, especially as this was my first stay at a Fairmont hotel. There, we were able to use the very comfortable lounge for before-dinner snacks and also for an excellent brekafast before heading off to catch our flight.
So, all in all, an excellent stay in a great hotel with some of the best-trained and friendliest staff I have ever come across.

Great hotel, incredible rooms. Wish I could stay here more often.
Rooms have runway views, yet are so incredibly quiet. Bathrooms are huge and beautifully appointed.

We stayed one night at the Fairmont between flights from Toronto and to Anchorage. We were upgraded to a Deluxe room upon checkin. The room was very spacious with a huge bed (unfortuately we weren't in the room long enough to truely enjoy it) and a large bathroom. All the rooms face the runways, and we were assured that we wouldn't hear planes and we didn't. One of the best features which is only available in Deluxe rooms is the telescope which allowed us to watch the planes come in and take off close up. Really cool.

The Fairmont Vancouver Airport is THE place to stay prior to a morning departure to the US. The hotel is right above the US departure check in gates. This allows one to balance sleep and the time needed to navigate the sometimes crowded and chaotic departure scene for morning outbound flights to the US.

We are members of the Fairmont Presidents Club, and this resulted in us being upgraded to the Gold Floor. This resulted in a great experience and delivery of an in room breakfast before our early morning departure (before the club lounge opened). Staff was helpful, pleasant and courteous throughout the stay. President's Club membership won't always result in an upgrade to the Gold Floor, but it does provide complimentary internet access.

We were given a north facing room. This enabled a great view of the airport, the North Vancouver mountains, and the Strait of Georgia, where we could spot BC Ferries and cruise ships on the horizon. Departing the hotel the next morning, I noted from the elevator lobbies that the south facing floors had views of the Gulf Islands and San Juan Islands, and presumably (not cannot verify) on a clear day, Mt. Baker.

Sound from the airport was not an issue. We did hear one plane depart early in the evening, but given the hotel's location, there are not many planes departing the gates below the hotel in the evening (the hotel is above the gates for US flights).

Rooms are large with exceptionally large bathrooms with separate walk in showers and toilet areas. This is not the reason one will choose this hotel, but it is an added plus.

Overall, an excellent choice for an overnight stay prior to departure.

I use this hotel a lot on business. I live on Vancouver Island and frequently international connectors leave too early for an island connection. it is very comfortable, high tech, and surprisingly scenic with the mountains in the background on one side the the airport activity on the other - dont worry the glass is about 4" thick and you can only hear the "heavies" aka 747 taking off. health club is actually usable for a hotel - most are not or are tucked away so far in the bowels of the joint that it becomes inconvenient or mysterious. Beds have always been plush, soft and carefully presented. The electronic gadgets are easy to use and control everything - more than any other hotel. Stay here...it extends your vacation. Another bonus is the airport itself...has a chick minimall...some reasonable restaurants (not great) and shopping. To top it off, the international gate is right under hotel...literally. Go downstairs - get in line....not easier anywhere.
