“Beautiful hotel, great service, terrible beds.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014 via mobile

The hotel is in a great, quiet location (about 10 minutes from canmore) which we loved. The hotel room (we stayed in a two bedroom suite, very large, two floors) was very clean, well decorated and well supplied. Our only complaint were the beds. I've stayed in my fair share of hotels and these ones were the worst. There was absolutely no spring or give to the mattress. It felt like we were sleeping on concrete. The beds were like this in both rooms. We woke up every morning with backaches and actually ended up piling blankets on top of each other to achieve some sort of comfort. It didn't really work.
We reached out to the front desk a few times in regards to this but the best they could do was give us more blankets. They were very nice tho.
The beds alone would make me not want to come back, but the hotel over all was great. I'm torn on this as we will be coming back to Canmore next summer. If we do decide to stay at the copperstone again, we would be bringing foam rolls to add to the mattress.

Dear guest,

Thank you for your kind review. We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed the location as well as the room and service. We are disappointed that you had such difficulty sleeping. In the majority of stays, guests love the firm supportive sleep that our mattresses offer, however there will always be those who prefer a softer sleep then our mattress may provide.

I am inspired by your comment about the foam mattress and have instructed our housekeeping team to purchase a number of them (both King and Queen), so that when you return we will have them available.

Thank you for your feedback and great idea. We look forward to having you come back and stay with us, and are hoping you will do so.

Yours in hospitality

I stayed in a 2 bedroom for 3 nights. The location was great, only 5 mins out of Canmore. I usually stay in Canmore, but for $300.00 less I just had to do it. The condo was great with a complete kitchen, nice balcony, BBQ in the complex, 2 bedrooms, electric fireplace...what more could you ask for! My room was ready when I arrived at 3:00pm which was great. Check-in went smoothly. I would definitely stay here again as its in a quite location away from the hustle and bustle of Canmore.

Dear guests,

Thank you for your kind comments. We are glad to hear that your arrival and stay went so well. The Copperstone Resort truly is the ideal location for those looking to be close to Canmore and Banff while enjoying the serene tranquility that the Hamlet of Dead Man's Flats offers. Most notably for those who are looking for a pet friendly location or for families looking for the space needed to keep everyone comfortable.

Thank you once again for your kind comments.

Here is our itinerary: 1st day; Stampede, 2nd day; Banff Downtown with cave visit, Gondola and Lake Minnewanka cruise, 3rd day; Lake Louise brunch with hike to Six of Plain Glaciers tea house, 4th day; shopping in downtown Banff and dipping in the hotspring with Bow Valley Grill brunch, 5th day; Glacier parkway starting @ Columbia Icefield with skywalk and Bow Lake and dining @ Post Hotel, 6th day; going back to Oregon.

With the above plan, the location was a good match for us. The price ($240 per night) was right for 2 king bedrooms and 1 bunk bedroom with two full baths for accommodating our parents, us, two kids (6 people). We were able to enjoy eating left overs and cooked breakfast in the condo as well as eating out. Shopping was mostly done in the Canmore, not too far. It is definitely a location that requires a car. If you are coming without it, forget about this location.

They even have a DVD library in the office, which we took advantage of. We brought out computer with HDMI cable, which allowed us to watch our saved videos and DVDs on their TV. I did not use their pool, but I heard it is good. It is located nearby river, and if you get a condo facing north sides, you will get a good view (or we got a good one @ 2201). We will consider this hotel 100% on next visit.

Room Tip: North side seemed to be facing away from a street. And you can get a good view of mountains on the...

We had booked this hotel ahead of time because of the great reviews. We had requested a top floor room and they phoned the night before to confirm that they would try their best. We did get there at 5:00 and we did get a top floor room but our room was not ready yet. I was a bit cranky about this because we had a long day on the road and just wanted to get to our room. They got their housekeeping team on it and they had the room done in about a half hour. Once we got to our room it was all worth the wait. Amazing!! It felt like we were in a condo and it had everything you could think of. Had plans to go to Banff that night but once we sat down we didn't want to leave. Had the best nights sleep there, it was so quiet. If we were in the area we would for sure stay here again!

I had booked a weekend getaway for my husband at the Copperstone Resort along with a Heli Tour as a Christmas 6 months in advance. I booked their Romance Package. Upon arriving, the resort knew little regarding the heli tour which caused mass confusion once we had arrived at the Kananaskis Rockies Heli Tour location. We were supposed to be booked for the "Romance Tour" as the winter promotion had stated on Copperstone's website, but according to the Rockies Heli Tour company, we were only booked for a 20 minute flight and would be flying with 4 other people. Needless to say, that was not what I had originally booked. We ended contacting Copperstone regarding the misunderstanding and lucky for me I had all the original emails on my phone to prove my case, otherwise we would have not gotten what we had originally paid for. The Rockies Heli Tour company was very gracious and understanding. They were happy to take us on the Romance Tour as we had booked. They even took us to a fantastic spot and gave us extra goodies. The Heli Tour was a BLAST!! As for the Copperstone Resort, they need to work on their communication skills. The rooms were lovely, not what I expected but lovely none the less. Turns out you rent out rooms in townhouse like buildings that are for sale in the middle of nowhere, meaning no amenities except for a shady gas station. The rooms are complete with kitchens, dinettes, a fireplace, washers and dryers...just like in a townhouse or condo. They were clean and we taken care of. In the end, we paid what we were originally quoted and I was happy with that. It was a great weekend getaway minus a little confusion.

We had a comfortable stay at CopperStone Resort. The property is clean and well maintained. The room was clean and welcoming. We had a great view of the mountains from our balcony and bedroom. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. We stayed here for 4 nights and knowingly reserved this place because we wanted a full kitchen. The property is easy to get to and is about 8-10 kilometers from Canmore town and around 26 kilometers from Banff. One will most certainly need to go to Canmore for dining and shopping; I did not see that anywhere near and around the property. I rated this property a 4 because it met our criteria (price, comfort, kitchen, accomodate 5 ppl); we reserved at this property knowing that trips to Canmore will be required for shopping, dining and groceries and also that Banff is a half hour drive away.

This place has no business calling itself a 'resort' as it offered virtually zero amenities. There are 2 barbecues and a hot tub. The room was tidy, but not clean. Upon check in we were advised that we would be charged $20 if we made a mess....at a hotel is it not common for the maids to clean upon check out. The front desk staff also told us that there were restaurants in the area, they were closed. We had to pay a $15 delivery fee for overpriced, inedible Chinese food (avoid Peking House). It was a very disappointing experience. Go the extra 8 kilometers and stay in Canmore.

Room Tip: Go to Canmore.

Dear guests,

We are disappointed that you did not enjoy your stay at the Copperstone Resort. We do take great pride in our facility and are always available to correct any part of your stay that you are not satisfied with. The vast majority of our guest comments reflect the fact that the Copperstone offers a unique, family friendly experience found only in the quiet hamlet of Dead Man's Flats; just minutes form the world class shopping and dining that Canmore and Banff have to offer.

We would certainly welcome an opportunity to discuss this further with you. Please do not hesitate to contact me at 1-866-571-0303.
