“Pleasant hotel in delightful historic part of Bursa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

There aren't many hotels to choose from in the historic bazaar area of Bursa, and this was the most expensive accommodation of our two-week tour because we wanted to be in this area of town. (It doesn't help that a lot of Bursa hotels are listed as Osmangazi on this website...) The Efehan is welcoming and clean, and very handy for visiting the lovely markets, spruced-up hans and early Ottoman mosques; it overlooks spice shops and a 16th-century mosque.
Warning: the mosque will definitely wake you up - at least if you're in a room at the front.
Buffet breakfast was good, but when we were there it was served in the basement, which is much less pleasant than the enclosed top-floor restaurant.
On the whole, this was a very nice hotel. Our double room was spacious, even with an extra bed. We enjoyed our short stay and loved Bursa!

Room Tip: If you're at the front, the mosque is certain to wake you up very early. I didn't check the...

The location of the hotel was perfect. It was just 5 min. walk from the covered bazaar, city centre and the silk bazaar. It seems to be recently renovated with a beautiful elevator and decorations in the reception. The rooms were quite big with T.V., minibar and private bathroom with toileteries. The restaurant was on the last floor with a nice panoramic view of the city. You feel relaxed while having breakfast which was fine and variable . It was a pleasant stay but the price was a bit expensive .

very central right next to bazaar. Two minute walk from 38 bus to Otogar. 5th floor terrace for breakfast. En suite rooms. Problem one night with drains was immediately resolved by move to nearby room. Good buffet breakfast. Price on arrival was 70 TL for single occupancy of double compared to quoted prices.

I arrived to Bursa without reservation and the hotels in the centre were really expensive or full, so the Efehan was the only real option. The hotel was average, not very new, but functional, even if in our room light was going out sometimes cuz the electric installation was old. Anyway, as an option in the centre is ok. The rooms they are enough big for two people and clean, so more than enought for a confortable night sleep

I stayed at the Efehan for one night during Ramadan in August 2009, and without reservation, was quoted - after negotiation - 50 TYL for a single room or 60 TYL for a double on arrival. I chose one of the singles on the mezzanine level which was small but the layout was fine and didn't feel too cramped.

The hotel's been recently renovated, and looked more like a boutique hotel and was rather pretty. However, having spent the previous night in the Cesmali next door, the latter felt more practical with cleaner towels, better toilet papers and nicer breakfast - even though the Efefan gives you a panoramic view of Bursa at breakfast in its rooftop bar/restaurant. In fact, the breakfast at the Efefan was not that great.

The biggest problem though was hot water, and it took ages to run the tap through - about 10 minutes - before hot water finally appeared. No such problems at the Cesmali. In addition, the hotel itself is a little noisy due in part to its open-plan layout, with a windy staircase running through it, and it therefore wasn't uncommon to hear the phone going off at reception even though you were on the third floor. The hotel also has a lift, and all rooms have cable TV including numerous English/European channels.

To conclude, the hotel is very well-located in the centre of the city, and can be reached easily by bus 38 from the Otogar - but be careful when negotiating the busy Ataturk Caddesi which is about 100m away- to get to the hotel, where you will walk past the Cesmali, and not far from the main bazaar and the main mosque/square in Bursa. If you like somewhere pretty to stay, this is a good choice for you. If not and you want something ,ore practical and aloof, go with the Cesmali.
