Aubergine is always busy and we have been a few times and have never found it any better sadly. This visit we accompanied friends who enjoy going there and I had over-cooked duck, very overcooked vegetables and in particular the kumara, which is one of NZ's most interesting vegetables, was so overcooked it was impossible to tell what it was. My husband had veal which was covered in a thick sauce...very 70s style cooking. It is not cheap and the only thing in its favour was that the service was good. I don't think we will go again.
