We have stayed at B&B's for many years and "The Captain's Landing" has to be the most outstanding and Margaret, the perfect hostess.

The Captain's Landing is without doubt the best B& B we have ever experienced. The attention to detail, comfort and service was very impressive. Very conveniently located on the waterfront at Devonport, walking distance to all the wonderful eateries, specialty shops and ferry. Beautifully atmosphere. Margaret is a most gracious hostess!

We have just returned from a month in New Zealand and one of our highlights was our stay in Margaret and Bo's beautiful home, by the waterside in Devenport. There were only two of us but we had the use of two bedrooms as Margaret never lets the other bedroom in the suite of rooms unless it is to friends or family. So we had what amounted to a beautifully appointed flat with a deck outside. Extras such as port, chocolates and cookies are always available in your room and every thing you could want has been provided. Five star hotels could learn from Margaret but could never compete with her attention to detail and wonderful welcome. Her breakfasts, served upstairs in her open plan dining/sitting room with 180 degree views of the water and the boats coming and going, were delicious. When we return to New Zealand, and we will, we will definitely stay here again. If you have a hire car it is perfect as you do not have to drive into Auckland, simply get the ferry from Devenport and in 10 minutes you are downtown. Perfect in every way!

Its never hard to express feelings about accommodation when you stay somewhere like "the Captains Landing". All the other reviews are exactly like my wife and I experienced.
New Zealand has a repretation from overseas travellers as having beautiful natural scenery and lovely friendly people. Margret Ekman (Bo was away during our stay) lifted the bar to another level. Margret is genuine with her intentions and has a friendly manner that is forever inviting.

Believe the reviews, go stay and experience something you will never forget,

We spent two nights at the Captain's Landing on Dec 31 and Jan 1. Margaret and Bo were gracious hosts and accomodated both an early check-in and a late check-out. The room was very clean, well appointed with lots of extra's, comfortable and provided lots of room for our family of 4. The location and views are superb and a quick ferry ride across the bay provided easy access to downtown Auckland without the trouble of driving and parking. Our hosts were very accomodating providing an early morning breakfast and a ride to the ferry (even though it is only 3 blocks) on New Year's Day to accomodate our touring schedule. The breakfasts were delicious!

Margaret and Bo provided us with a perfect base to relax and recover after a long journey. They made us so welcome and with Margaret's great breakfasts we left with great reluctance. A superb and very comfortable base from which to explore Auckland and the surrounding area. Our one regret is that we did not stay longer.

We would recommend The Captain's Landing to everyone.

Let me start by putting our stay at the Captains landing in one word "Margaret"

In life you rarely come across people who go out of their way to really make every aspect of what you are doing beyond special - more a forever memory - come in margaret!

Not a word my partner or I could write could do this justice - if you have an opportunity to stay here - don't look around, don't think twice - BOOK IT!

Our accommodation was beautiful - classic and comfortable and the views on our door step - well if you like the water and watching boats set sail - maybe a sun rise over the water then you don't get anything better than this.

I have stayed in excellent accomodation - what sets this apart was simply the care our host offered to us to ensure our stay was unforgettable. Nothing was to big or small - and unless you stay here you'll never know about the breakfast - worth its admission fee alone.

This was the hiighlight of 5 star accomodation we enjoyed across New Zealand North and and South - it will forever be one of our fondest memories - Margaret your service is second to none and just know guests appreciate what you do - My partner and I thought you were a Star!
