Owner description: Brewery tours run Monday to Saturday, starting from the Visitors Centre, they last approximately 2 hours. The first 1½ hours are spent around the brewery where you'll see our original steam engine, learn about our history and how we make our range of delicious beers. Once outside the Brewery, don't forget to keep an eye out for our working Shire horses, which still deliver beer to our local pubs. If you are planning a visit to the brewery and would like to see the drays on their regular delivery rounds it is always best to phone ahead and check that the shires will be working on that day. In any event, the tour of the brewery includes a tour of the stables so you won’t miss out on seeing these amazing animals. Upon completion of the tour, it's back to our sampling bar in the Visitor Centre for a ½ hour beer tasting. It is essential to book a Brewery Tour by contacting us on the phone or email. Cost: £11.50 per person

“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

Really enjoyed our tour of the Hook Norton Brewery today. Wonderful hearing all the history of the brewery and the processes that go into brewing beer from our tour guide Monty; who gave an extremely informed & humorous presentation which very much brought the history of this wonderful place alive. I sometimes switch off and get a bit bored on tours but this was fascinating and kept my interest throughout. Beer tasting at the end was fun too! Thanks for a brilliant time.

“Farewell to the UK”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

Three years ago I moved to the Middle East and decided to mark this event, as a CAMRA member and real ale lover with a brewery tour at Hook Norton. Myself and two colleagues met for lunch at a local Hook Norton Pub , complete with a delivery by the Hook Norton dreys, and then we went to the brewery for our tour. The guide was very interesting and there was no rush for the tasting session and finally we retired to another of their pubs for dinner and stayed in a final hostelry owned by the Brewery. The next day we had a great breakfast and later free coffee as we reminisced. A great 24 hours and great memories of the UK.

“Fascinating brewery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

Hook Norton is one of the last independent, family owned and run breweries in England. For this alone it is worth the visit, but even more so because of the wonderful Victorian vertical brewery itself which is Heritage listed. This is a working brewery in an old building largely using traditional processes and equipment. The steam engine has been recently retired because of the cost of running it (GBP 40,000 pa in oil) but the drive train, belts and pulleys throughout the building are still in use, driven instead by an electric motor. Yes, the fermentation hall does not form part of the tour, but there is good reason for this: gaggles of visitors pose a threat to the traditional fermentation process used at the brewery and there is a risk of a soured brew. With this in mind, the brewery's decsion to bypass the fermentation process is reasonable and by no means lessens the visit. The tour guide Scott, was helpful, knowledgeable and answered questions without hesitation. If you want to get a feel for a traditional brewing process and a taste of handcrafted beers, then the Hook Norton Brewery tour is a well worth visit. Highly recommended.

“This place is a national treasure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

The tour was informative and interesting and not in the least bit boring - considering it was regarding the chemical processes involved in brewing 'stuff', that's no mean feat. The tour itself is not suitable for children but there is a cafe to wait in and shire horses to visit.

The beer is amazing - there is the opportunity at the end of the tour to try for yourself.
