“Nice Weekend Away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2012

Nice sized room for the 3 of us, fantastic meals!
Package we had was great but the meals were a standout.
Service/hospitality was also great.
Good base to explore the area

Room Tip: Room 9 was a good sized room

3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2011

My partner and I stayed at the Black Spur Inn for a couple of nights. We stayed in one of the premier rooms which included a queen size bed, LCD T.V, bar fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathroom. The location was quite serene, surrounded by bushland and a short drive from Healesville and Marysville. However the Inn is located right on the Maroondah highway and the room we stayed in had a floor to ceiling window facing the highway which was frequented by trucks and wasn't the most picturesque view. The decor was terribly dated, the carpet was improperly layed and the floor creaked underfoot. The bathroom was again dated but clean and functional as long as you don't plan on having a bath. The water was brown and rusty despite letting it run for 10 minutes. It was strange to see a modern flat screen TV when the rest of the room was severely lacking and in desperate need of a renovation. As part of our package we had a 3 course dinner in the restaurant downstairs and it was really quite nice. We were seated at a table underneath the glass ceiling with a beautiful view of the trees against a star studded night sky. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. The staff were warm, friendly and very attentive. If only the owners made some simple aesthetic changes because with the lovely location and genuine hospitality this place could be a real winner.

we stayed at the black spur inn over the weekend. It was quiet and a great location, but the hotel itself was a bit dissapointing...
I booked the premier suite (which is the most expensive room in the house) and it was very average and seemed to be one of the smallest rooms on the map... very dissapointing....
the staff were great and very helpful and the food was great.
Wouldn't stay there again, as seem to be a bit overpriced for the room that you got. Only worth going there for the area.

Room Tip: some rooms share a bathroom, i think they were room 6+7. we stayed in room 5 and it was very small f...
