Stayed 7 nights at $25 a night. WIFI the best so far in Jamaica. Lovely old colonial style house with a good selection of rooms. Stayed in very large high ceiling room with plenty of room to spread out. Large breezy verandah to sit on and also a hammock. Basic breakfast of bread, jam and coffee (very nice) for $4 but you can add to that if you wish. On site bakery so there is a varying selection of breads etc. Shared bathroom clean and spacious and never had a wait for it. Basic kitchen for use with gas stove and saucepans, kettle, fridge etc. Oracabessa is a 3 minute $0.70 shared taxi ride away and has a couple of supermarkets and a very nice chicken and chips place. James Bond beach is just before the town and maybe a 25 minute walk ($5 entry and is a little tired these days with a small strip of sand). Better beach bet is right across the road. A locals only free beach with keyed entry that has crystal clear water and a long stretch of sand (nothing special) to lie on. If your looking fora cheap Ochi alternative and a place to relax and recharge than this is not a bad option. You are a $1.40 taxi ride (never long to wait) into Ochi which I think is 15kms and maybe 20 minutes away. Ochi is nothing special (Burger King, KFC and some other restaurants) nor is the main beach which has a $2 entry...so in my opinion your not really missing out by being out of town. Guest house is on the main road so you do get a fair bit of traffic noise (maybe bring some ear plugs if you're a light sleeper) but I still managed to sleep in till 9am most days. Also a few sand flies so a good idea to bring some spray. Also check what's available for dinner each morning to save you heading into town (the German sausages and potato salad was a nice cheap option and they also do pizza). The dogs are harmless and very quiet. During the day you can get a taxi back out from the transportation centre and at night they leave from the clock tower. Load of washing is $5. Make sure you check out the Blue Hole (ask Nicola) while you are here and also Little Dunns River (a local beach with waterfall across from Mystic Mountain). Dunns River Falls at $20 is worth a look but Mystic Mountain is very expensive and you would not be missing much by skipping it. No scooters in town to hire. Oracabessa and this B&B definitely grow on you if you are not in a hurry and don't mind a little rustic charm. Directions. From Ochi, a few Km's past the airport. Blue house on the right hand side just before going down the hill to the Oracabessa gas station.
